God of War Ragnarok fans are eagerly anticipating news on the game, as well as an official release date for it. After a seemingly false rumor spread a few weeks ago that God of War Ragnarok would be delayed to 2023, Bloomberg reported that its intended release date was then-currently November 2022. Bloomberg sources also suggested that God of War Ragnarok’s November release date would be revealed by the end of June.

It didn’t take long before the rumor mill suggested that God of War Ragnarok’s release date would be announced at a State of Play, set to bring an end to the month of big reveals. However, a State of Play was never reported by Bloomberg, and a God of War Ragnarok State of Play seems incredibly unlikely at this point. Many still believe and hope release date news is coming though, with Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog weighing in on the matter.

In a recent post on Twitter, Barlog stated he would share all God of War Ragnarok information as soon as he knew, if he could, but it is not up to him. He calls for patience as many fans have repeatedly voiced their desires to know the release date and promises that things will be shared as soon as they can. “We make games for you. [W]e get to make games because of you,” he ends.

God of War Ragnarok is easily one of the most anticipated titles of the year, so while the fan fervor is understandable, all things happen in their due time. Sony and Santa Monica will announce the release date and show more of the game well before it launches, and it’s best to allow the companies involved to do so at their preferred speed. That said, it should be noted that, while Cory Barlog may be obviously if indirectly addressing rumors of the release date reveal, he doesn’t appear to be denying anything happening on June 30.

Known insider Tom Henderson recently stated on Twitter that it seems Sony and Santa Monica are preparing an announcement, which would line up well with an announcement tomorrow. In the comments, he replies to someone saying that June 30 will feature a gameplay trailer and release date reveal with “not even a gameplay trailer.” All signs seemingly point to tomorrow (June 30), and with what’s known, fans should probably keep an eye on the PlayStation Blog.

However, none of this has been confirmed by anyone involved. It may happen tomorrow; it may not happen at all. If it doesn’t (or even if it does), fans should not let their desire for God of War Ragnarok lead them to act hastily. Ragnarok is coming, and it’s important that it takes the time it needs.
