God of War Ragnarok is the center of many rumors regarding a potential release date. Former God of War and Twisted Metal director David Jaffe shares his own take about the status of God of War Ragnarok on Twitter, prompting a response from a returning producer.

God of War Ragnarok continues where God of War left off as Kratos and Atreus set out for another journey. Ragnarok is approaching, which means Kratos is far from done in the Norse environment introduced with God of War. Due to the size and scope of God of War Ragnarok, Sony confirmed the game would mark the end of the Norse saga in the God of War series. News directly from PlayStation would cease until an update this past May revealed new accessibility features for God of War Ragnarok. These accessibility features will allow more gamers around the world to partake in Kratos' next journey.

David Jaffe allegedly reached out to insider sources at Sony, claiming that God of War Ragnarok's release date is no longer set in stone for 2022. In the tweet, Jaffe claims the release date is to be determined and believes a release within 2022 is "50/50 at this point." The tweet prompted a brief, witty response from God of War Ragnarok producer Cory Barlog, who makes his long awaited return to the social media platform. Barlog quote tweeted Jaffe with "wait, what?" and a GIF of Kratos from God of War, followed by a GIF of actor Ryan Reynolds making a sly expression.

Barlog's tweet caused a lot of discussion within the PlayStation and God of War community, inspiring confidence in a release of God of War Ragnarok before the end of 2022. Although Barlog did not reconfirm the release window within the tweets, it appears that he's making fun of the constant rumors about God of War Ragnarok being delayed into 2023. God of War Ragnarok rumors will likely continue for quite some time, but Barlog's return to Twitter could mean that news about the upcoming God of War title is coming soon.

The tweet by Barlog seems like much-needed reassurance for the community as the producer is a well respected figure. Many praised the time and effort put into God of War and are eager to experience God of War Ragnarok for themselves. During a busy month in the gaming landscape, the wait for God of War Ragnarok continues to be one filled with speculation.

A November 2022 release for God of War Ragnarok continues to be suggested, but it's not confirmed by PlayStation directly. Eventually, PlayStation will share more news about the highly anticipated title including the all-important release date.
