God of War Ragnarok fans have been hungry for gameplay and more information for some time now, going even further back than the recent release date reveal for the game. God of War Ragnarok fans know what's in the special editions, know that Tyr is involved somehow, and know Kratos and Atreus plan to stop Ragnarok, but in terms of gameplay and new content, Sony and Santa Monica have been oddly silent for a game a few months from launch.

However, that seems to all be changing soon. There is a rumored upcoming PlayStation Showcase, said to take place on September 8, and it's hard to imagine God of War Ragnarok not being there, if the rumors are legit. Beyond that, though, God of War Ragnarok graces the cover of Game Informer Magazine, and alongside some new combat details, more is on the way.

Accompanying God of War Ragnarok's GI cover reveal came a handful of screenshots for the game. Fans have been pouring over this information, looking at how the area compares to shots shown last year and more. However, fans were also quick to notice a small detail in some of the screenshots.

As seen above and found by Redditor Bdboss_777, Odin's ravens return as collectibles. There were 51 players could find in the first game, and it seems there will be even more in the next game. On the one hand, returning collectibles is common in any video game franchise and surely Odin had more than 51 ravens to begin with, but on the other hand, it's hard to say how fans feel about this. Leaked images have shown Odin's character model, and it stands to reason he'll play some major role in the upcoming game. Collecting Odin's Ravens after players dispatch the god, if they do that, would be a little odd, but then again, it's just a video game.

The response in Bdboss_777 is largely positive, notably. No one seems to care that Odin's ravens return in the upcoming God of War Ragnarok, and they see it as a natural extension from the first game to the sequel. Other reveals for the game have seen players be upset about returning animations, for some reason, like how Kratos rows a boat and other small details like that. Reusing assets when someone can save huge swathes of development time, and it's not like small details like this are the big stand out of any game. Instead, what accompanied this minor reveal are some interesting changes to Kratos' weapons and shields in the upcoming game, as well as the hope that more is on the horizon. All of this is a good sign for God of War Ragnarok, ultimately.
