God of War Ragnarok appears to be a massive success on Twitch in terms of viewership numbers even just days after God of War Ragnarok came out on November 9 to critical acclaim. Ragnarok is currently the highest-rated game Sony has released on PS5, and it’s only behind Elden Ring when compared to new launches in 2022.

There was a lot of hype surrounding God of War Ragnarok and it’s no surprise to see Twitch streamers play the game on release day. Some of them are even playing on Give Me God of War, the highest difficulty setting in the game. Players who choose to play Ragnarok on this difficulty can select a lower level during their playthrough, but they cannot switch back to Give Me God of War after making the change. Now, it looks like God of War Ragnarok enjoyed an impressive viewership on Twitch in the first days of its release.

The data collected by SullyGnome shows that hundreds of thousands of users watched Twitch streamers play God of War Ragnarok. Dexerto also shared a chart featuring the numbers around its launch, showing that Ragnarok peaked at an impressive 460,000 viewers. This total has only increased since then, and it now sits at 480,655 total users. According to SullyGnome, fans have watched over 16 million hours of gameplay from God of War Ragnarok, and these totals will likely keep increasing until the popular streamers move on to a different game.

Despite the huge success of God of War Ragnarok on Twitch, Dexerto reports that it lagged behind Elden Ring as FromSoftware’s latest game peaked at 875,000 viewers. Granted, Elden Ring is a multiplatform game, so it may be unfair to directly compare the two figures.

While Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok are two massive success stories on Twitch in 2022, Cyberpunk 2077 retains the top spot in terms of single-player games. Cyberpunk 2077 managed an impressive number of over 1 million concurrent users on Twitch when it came out in 2020.

The most popular games on Twitch are generally multiplayer titles like Valorant and League of Legends. Extremely hyped single-player games like God of War Ragnarok usually enjoy a huge burst of viewership at launch before a slow decline over the course of the game’s lifetime. Still, it’s a remarkable achievement for God of War Ragnarok to have such an impressive number of concurrent online viewers on Twitch.

God of War Ragnarok is now available on PS4 and PS5.
