A fan of God of War Ragnarok shares a fresh tattoo sporting several of the weapons used in the game beneath a banner written in half Greek and half Old Norse. This impressive tribute to 2018's God of War and the 2022 sequel God of War Ragnarok shows the profound effect the critically acclaimed series has had on its fan base.

Santa Monica has delivered a worthy successor to its triumphant 2018 God of War. Released on November 9, 2022, God of War Ragnarok was a rousing success, selling 5.1 million units on its opening weekend, being hailed as a game of the year contender, and providing enough staying power to be the U.K's number one selling title during the last week of 2022. Sony Santa Monica also announced that an update for God of War Ragnarok will be arriving in Spring 2023, which will include the highly-requested new game + mode, among other additions.

Reddit user konner1031 took to the platform to off their new God of War tattoo. In a black-and-white realistic style with some tracing style influence, and sparse yet effective usage of contrasting colors, the tattoo depicts the Leviathan Axe propped upright with the Blades of Chaos crossed in the lower foreground. The tribute to the mystical weapons wielded by Kratos is set on a banner that reads "Remember life," in Old Norse on its left side, and "Remember death," in Greek on the right. The subtle language shift is a clever homage to Kratos' troubled past and the first pantheon of Gods he cut a bloody swath through.

Tattoos play a significant role in the God of War universe, Norse mythology, and several Nordic cultures, making konner1031's fresh ink a smart, on-brand tribute to the series. The trademark red tattoo adorning Kratos was etched in honor of his brother Deimos after being cast to Hades by Ares and Athena. As far as honoring the God of War series, konner1031's is the latest in a long line of God of War tattoos. There are some amazing examples out there, and this one might stand as one of the best.

No information is known about Sony Santa Monica's next entry in the God of War series. Whether it comes in the form of a spin-off series featuring Atreus, or Kratos hacking and slashing his way through a whole new pantheon of Gods, one certainty is that there will be plenty more killer tattoos inspired by the series to come.

God of War Ragnarok is available for PS4 and PS5.
