God of War Ragnarok actor Christopher Judge has broken the world record for longest awards show acceptance speech. Christopher Judge took over the role of Kratos starting with the 2018 God of War game, and his portrayal of the iconic actor has earned critical acclaim ever since. Judge's turn as Kratos in God of War Ragnarok earned even more praise, to the point where Judge managed to win Best Performance at The Game Awards for his efforts.

While Judge was nominated for Best Performance at the 2018 Game Awards, he ultimately lost to Roger Clark, who played Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2. Competition was stiff at the 2022 Game Awards event as well, but this time Judge managed to take home the top prize. After winning his well-deserved award, Judge proceeded to give a lengthy acceptance speech that seemed to throw the event's timing completely off.

Judge's heartfelt acceptance speech was a whopping 7 minutes and 59 seconds long, making it the longest awards show acceptance speech in history. The previous record holder was Greer Garson, who spoke for 5 minutes and 30 seconds after she won the Best Actress award at the Oscars for her portrayal of Kay Miniver in the 1942 film Mrs. Miniver.

While Judge's acceptance speech at The Game Awards was a long one, it was also an emotionally-charged and moving. It also revealed some interesting behind-the-scenes details about Ragnarok. In it, he revealed that he nearly quit playing Kratos in God of War Ragnarok when he found out Cory Barlog wasn't going to be the game director. Judge had high expectations for new director Eric Williams, and it's safe to say that Williams met those expectations.

As for Kratos, it will be interesting to see if Judge portrays the iconic character again any time soon or if the baton has effectively been passed to Atreus. At the end of God of War Ragnarok, Kratos looks to aid the people in the Norse lands he's inhabiting, while Atreus goes off on his own adventure to find the rest of the giants. This has led to speculation that the next God of War game will focus on Atreus and his adventures, making him the main character over Kratos. However, that's just speculation at this time, and since it will likely be years before a new God of War game hits store shelves, fans will have to wait awhile to find out what direction the series is going in for its next installment.

God of War Ragnarok is out now for PS4 and PS5.
