There are plenty of different collectible sets and challenges in God of War Ragnarok, but few are quite as important as the game's Nornir Chests. Just like in the previous title, these special puzzle chests contain rare items that can permanently increase the size of Kratos' health and Spartan Rage meters, which can come in very useful against some of God of War Ragnarok's tougher foes.

There are 35 Nornir Chests in total, though players will only need to find and open 30 of them in order to unlock the Full Belly trophy and max out both of their meters. One of Alfheim's seven Nornir Chests is located inside the Temple of Light, which players will need to visit as part of the game's fourth chapter, Groa's Secret. Of course, as is often the case, finding the chest is only the beginning of the challenge.

How to Unlock the Temple of Light Nornir Chest

Much like many of the other Nornir Chests in God of War Ragnarok, the Temple of Light chest is somewhat difficult to miss as it's right in the middle of the main quest path. Players will be able to find it to their right as they make their way to the top of the temple during Chapter 4, specifically at the point when Tyr tells them to look up at the pillar of light. However, this chest is a little different from some of the ones which came before it.

To open the Temple of Light Nornir Chest, players will need to ring three bells. As those who played the previous God of War game will already know though, these bells all need to be rung within just a few seconds of each other, so it's very important to find the right position from which to start. The first bell is just to the left of the chest, but players should ignore it for now.

Instead, they'll want to head down the path to the right of the chest and have Atreus fire one of his Sonic Arrows at the sparkling green substance encasing the second bell. Doing so will destroy it, allowing players to throw the Leviathan Axe at the nearby Twilight Stone so that it bounces off and rings the bell. For now, though, they'll want to head back outside to the area with the chest.

The final bell that players need to ring is to the left of the Nornir Chest, so players should look for a spot from which they can hit both visible bells and the Twilight Stone with Kratos' Leviathan Axe without having to move. This can be achieved by standing near Tyr, who seems to have been conveniently placed as a marker of sorts. From this spot, players should be able to hit all three targets quickly enough to unlock the Temple of Light Nornir Chest.

The contents of the chest will vary depending on how many chests players have opened up to this point. If players have already opened an odd number of chests before this, the chest will contain a Horn of Blood Mead that can be used to increase the Spartan Rage meter, while those who've opened an even number of chests will get an Idunn Apple that permanently increases the player's maximum health.

God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
