During the game's 16th chapter, God of War Ragnarok players will find themselves returning to Muspelheim in search of the fire giant Surtr. Before they reach him though, they'll have a chance to make a quick detour by destroying a boulder using Kratos' Draupnir spear, which will lead them to one of the game's 35 Nornir Chests.

It's an easy chest to miss, particularly as many players will likely be racing toward God of War Ragnarok's epic conclusion during their first visit to the Burning Cliffs with Kratos. Thankfully, however, players will be able to return to the area later on if they miss it the first time around, so all is not lost for those that did.

How to Unlock the Burning Cliffs Nornir Chest

As they make their way down toward the forge, players will pass a destructible boulder on their right. Lodging a Draupnir spear into the crack on the boulder and then detonating it will open up a new path, which will lead players directly to the Burning Cliffs Nornir Chest. To break the seal and unlock it, players will need to ignite three torches, all of which can be found in the immediate vicinity of the chest.

The first of the three torches is directly behind the chest, though it's a little too far away for Kratos to ignite with his Blades of Chaos alone. To get around this, players can have their companion fire a few Sigil Arrows at the torch and then create a trail of arrows that leads to a point where Kratos can reach. Hopefully, players will find this part easy, otherwise, the next part could be a real slog.

Turning around from this position, players should be able to see the second and third torches, though, like the last one, they're too far away for the Blades of Chaos to reach. To light them, players should fire three Sigil Arrows at the stone pillar to the left of the torch with the R rune on it and then follow the path around to the left. From this angle, they should fire three more arrows at the pillar with the other torch on it and then three at the base of the pillar directly in front of Kratos.

For those unaware, firing multiple Sigil Arrows at the exact same spot will increase the size of the blast radius when the arrows are ignited.

It may take a few attempts and players will need to be relatively quick to prevent the arrows from disappearing, but, eventually, they should be able to get the torches lit. Once they do, they'll be able to open the Burning Cliffs Nornir Chest, inside of which they'll find either an Idunn Apple or a Horn of Blood Mead. This is assuming, of course, that they haven't already opened up thirty Nornir Chests. If they have, they'll instead end up with a far less desirable item like Hacksilver or Shattered Runes.

God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
