God of War Ragnarok's tenth chapter, Forging Destiny, follows Kratos on his quest to alter his son's fate. Heimdall is plotting to kill Atreus, so Kratos needs to find a way to reach Asgard as soon as possible. The journey begins once he leaves the Lake of Nine through the Mystic Gateway.

Before setting off to Asgard, Kratos needs to come up with a way to beat Heimdall. Unlike other gods, Heimdall can predict what people are planning to do. Since challenging him seems hopeless at this time, Kratos decides to ask Sindri and Brok for their help. God of War Ragnarok's tenth chapter begins after leaving Sindri's House.

The Service Tunnel

Kratos and Freya emerge in an abandoned service tunnel after walking through the Mystic Gateway. Brok informs them that it's the best way forward, so there appears to be no other choice than to follow the path.

There's an intersection up ahead. The north path leads to a dead end but is full of Hacksilver, while the left leads to the way out. To destroy the brambles blocking the right path, Freya must cast a Hex Bubble before Kratos destroys it with his Blades of Chaos.

A new enemy known as the Wicked Grim can be found in the next area. Unlike their regular Grims, these creatures can use their tongues to inflict damage. To get past the next blockade, Kratos must use the Blades of Chaos to set an oil spill on fire.

After defeating the next group of Grims, Kratos will need to follow the path south and set fire to a barrel, destroying the brambles in his way. Doing so will reveal a Legendary Chest that contains the Fog of Fimbulwinter.

While pulling the chain at the intersection, Kratos must throw the Leviathan Axe at the blue artifact just above the adjacent door. Once Freya casts a Hex Bubble on it, the axe can be hurled at a nearby Twilight Stone to open the way forward.

There's a Bergsra in the next area, and though it isn't overly challenging, the player should save the game before entering. This Bergsra can spew a toxic gas from its mouth without warning, so it's vital to maintain a safe distance.

Opening The Gate

Just like in The Quest For Tyr, Kratos can only move forward by throwing the Leviathan Axe at the water duct, specifically at the section just above the waterwheel.

There's a Nornir Chest up ahead. Opening it requires the rune across from the chest to be ignited with the Blades of Chaos, and the rune to the south to be ignited using a Hex Bubble or two. The third rune can be found by smashing a barrel in the previous hallway. Once all three are lit, Kratos will obtain some Horns of Blood Mead.

There are some Nightmare Grims in the next area. Once they are defeated, Kratos can find a Red Coffin on top of the wooden structure before climbing the chain into the next room. At the end of this hallway, he can reposition the water ducts.

Forging Onward

Once he returns to the room with the water wheels, Freya should shoot a Hex Bubble at the highest duct once Kratos has lodged his axe in it. Then, Kratos can throw his axe at the duct above the water wheel. Before moving on, it would be wise to save the game in preparation for the upcoming battle against two Bergsras.

This fight can be quite tough, but thankfully, the environment can help a great deal. There are several barrels in this area which, when attacked with the Blades of Chaos, will explode. If timed correctly, these explosions can do a significant amount of damage to the Bergsras.

Once the battle ends, Kratos can loot the Yggdrasil Rift in the northern room before continuing with his journey. There's a Red Coffin in the next area right beside the way up to the surface.

The Forge

Kratos reconvenes with Brok once he reaches the surface. On their way to the Forge, he will get a chance to loot the Red Coffin on a western ridge before continuing. He will fight three Gulons in the next area, but they're more of a nuisance than anything else. Once they have been vanquished, Kratos can investigate the nearby Read Rune.

After grappling up the wall further up the path, Kratos will need to freeze two geysers in order to move a lift. Brok will advance once the most western one has been frozen, allowing Kratos to use the lift. Upon reaching the gate, he will need to climb the nearby wall to refreeze the geyser he just thawed. Once the gate opens, Kratos will find a Legendary Chest containing the Atlas Eruption.

The Nightmare Haunt awaits at the end of this path. After destroying it, Kratos will need to return to the Forge to make use of the lift. He will get attacked by two Grims along the way. Once they are dealt with, it's time for Kratos to put his handyman skills to the test.

Forging The Weapon

Kratos chops a block of ore in God of War Ragnarok

Brok requires some materials to repair the switch, and thankfully, they're both quite close. The first ore he needs can be found in the eastern part of this area, while the bronze ore can be harvested from beside the wooden structure just before it. Once both ores have been collected, Brok will take Kratos to an underwater forge. After a lengthy cutscene, Kratos will return to the surface with a new weapon, the Draupnir Spear.

The Draupnir Spear can be summoned by pressing down on the D-Pad and is arguably one of the best means of long-range combat in all of Ragnarok. When lodged in an enemy, pressing Triangle will cause the spear to explode, inflicting damage equal to the number of spears thrown. Not only is it useful in battle, but it can also be called upon to destroy walls with Gold Cracks in them, just like the one in this area.

Heading Home

Kratos can practice with the spear a bit more in the next room by killing the Grims and destroying the three Nightmare Haunts. There's a Red Coffin on the northwest ridge that can only be reached by destroying the boulder near the two nests. Once this has been done, the next Gold Crack can be found along the following path while looking in the chest's direction.

In the next area, Kratos will learn that the Spear can also be used on Wind Spouts to make climbing possible in certain areas. After using this trick to climb up a nearby ledge, the spear can then be used to destroy the boulder blocking the way forward. Two Ogres are coming up in the next area, so it might be wise to save the game before going any further.

This battle can be pretty intimidating at first, but the size of the arena provides ample breathing room. It's important to keep moving, as the Ogres can throw boulders from a distance. To make the fight slightly easier, the player can use the environment to their advantage by hitting the Grims into the hole in the arena's center, and also, picking up the debris scattered around and throwing it at the Ogres.

Brok sets up a shop for the player to upgrade their gear after the battle ends. The next step in this chapter is to use the zipline to get back to the dwarven village where a cutscene will play. A group of Einherjar attacks outside the village. Once they have all been vanquished, returning to the Mystic Gateway will mark the end of this chapter.

God of War Ragnarok is available now for PS4 and PS5.
