Ever since the release of the first God of War game back in 2005, every single entry in the series, including the 2018 reboot, has been a PlayStation exclusive. For so long, no one really questioned this exclusive partnership between Sony and Santa Monica Studios, and given that all God of War games are stamped with the "Only on PlayStation" brand, the idea of seeing God of War outside PlayStation was mostly inconceivable.

Now, it appears that things could be changing for God of War and its exclusive status on the PlayStation. As spotted by several Twitter users, 2018's God of War, which broke PlayStation Exclusives sales records upon its release, is no longer listed as Only for PlayStation. While it may not mean much for PlayStation players, the removal of the Only for PlayStation branding could hint that God of War is heading to the PC.

Looking at the history of Sony, players would remember that both Detroit: Become Human and Death Stranding had the exclusivity branding at some point, but were removed before it was announced that both games will be heading to the PC. As of the moment, neither Sony nor God of War developer Santa Monica Studios has spoken about the recent change.

It's always possible that this could just be a mistake on the part of PlayStation US, where the removal of the Only on PlayStation brand was spotted. Looking over at other regions such as Hong Kong and Australia would reveal that God of War is still listed under the brand "PlayStation Exclusives." It's possible that someone from PlayStation US made a mistake, but it is a little bit baffling why anyone from Sony would be messing around the game page of God of War, especially since it has been two years since the game was released.

Another possibility is that God of War has indeed lost its PlayStation 4 exclusivity status and could be heading to the PC like Death StrandingDetroit: Become Human, and soon Horizon: Zero Dawn. Another piece of evidence that adds to the likely possibility of a PC port is a tweet by Santa Monica developer, Cory Barlog, who said that he would love to see God of War on the PC. However, Barlog also revealed that the decision to port the game to any platform is way above his paygrade.

God of War is out now for the PlayStation 4.
