God of War's franchise revival has reinvented its entire gameplay design and atmosphere to suit the modern era. With ten installments that include ventures into mobile titles for the series, God of War is a staple of hack-and-slash action games with a unique portrayal of mythologies and deities.

With God of War: Ragnarok releasing sometime next year, it is exciting to anticipate what memorable moments might be invited into the series. But lately, Santa Monica Studio has been taking a nostalgic look back at the previous titles in the God of War franchise with fans.

Santa Monica Studio recently asked fans to share moments from the God of War franchise that have been most memorable or remarkable to them. When asking this of fans, they have also provided a clip of Kratos unearthing his past with the reprisal of the twin Blades of Chaos. Notorious for the renowned hack-and-slash combat that the original series was known for, the Blades of Chaos are truly representative of how far the franchise has developed, and fans have since shared the moments that struck them the most.

Many moments shared from players are taken from the latest God of War installment, which tracks since it has redefined the series entirely and has paved the way for a new direction that still manages to portray its past with exciting references and lore for dedicated fans. The Blades of Chaos, for example, are fascinating because they integrate a completely new weapon type into God of War's latest installment with its own upgrade branches. But it is particularly special for players who understand the narrative weight that these chained blades suggest for the game.

Rather, KamabokoGonpaChiro's most memorable moments were when God of War featured a more "ruthless Kratos," such as when Kratos beheads Helios, and hopes to see moments like these return in God of War: Ragnarok. Indeed, Kratos' more graphic and vengeful ordeals appear to be behind him now that he has reconciled some of his emotions while on a perilous journey with his conflicted son, Atreus.

Jardani Jovonovich Appreciator's most shocking moment was when The Stranger, known later as Baldur, lands a punch on Kratos that sends him sailing over his tiny cabin home. Many cinematic sequences are peppered throughout God of War's debut into Norse mythology, with Baldur's introduction surely making a splash with how powerful he is compared to Kratos.

Because God of War: Ragnarok is slated to conclude the relatively brief Norse mythology saga, it is exciting to see what surprises God of War's future may hold when it transitions into its next myth.

God of War: Ragnarok is currently scheduled to release in 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
