If imitation is the highest form of flattery, then the constantly growing list of fan art around the God of War franchise is certainly a sign that the series has grown a excited community around it. One recent piece of art made by a fan now goes a step further than mere flattery by reimagining protagonist Kratos possibly heading out on a journey to a new land entirely.

This latest piece, posted to Reddit by user Buffybumcheeks, reimagines Kratos as if he left the Greek pantheon from the original God of War, or the new Norse myths of the most recent title. The fan art doesn't reimagine the origin story of the character, however, instead simply placing him into a position of wearing clothes from this historical location, similar to the redesign seen in the 2018 game.

In the case of this most recent piece of God of War fan content, the artist has redesigned Kratos to be wearing an outfit inspired by historical Egyptian designs. This comes complete with an eagle on the front of his belt, and a new weapon which some fans of this type of cutlery might recognize as a Khopesh. It's an interesting design that could pull from an easter egg found in the most recent title, which implies a connection between Kratos and the other gods of war of different pantheons like the Norse version coming in the next title, Tyr.

The piece goes a step further than simply swapping out Kratos' iconic Leviathan Axe or Blades of Chaos for a new Khopesh and also touches on the classic logo of the omega symbol wrapping around the letters. For this Egyptian design, an Eye of Ra is instead used to wrap around the "of" in God of War as a way of bringing the whole image into this new location along with Kratos. Additionally, the artist has also made a similar piece that brings Atreus into this Egyptian version of the game, with more weapons and a lot more coverage from his new robes.

Going all the way back to the original God of War, Kratos has never been a stranger to being the subject of a considerable amount of fan art or other related content. Even with the character changing in the 2018 title and the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok, the rage machine still stands as one of the most iconic characters in the PlayStation lineup. So, fan artists will likely still have plenty more content to continue making as the series goes on, hopefully with the same impressive skill shown as this recent Egyptian Kratos.

God of War is available now for PS4 and PS5, with a PC version set to release January 14th, 2022.
