YouTube channel TeaserPlay has made yet another Unreal Engine 5 concept video, with this one based on Sony's God of War franchise. The long-awaited God of War Ragnarok's release is mere weeks away at this point, with the new game set to bring an end to the franchise's Norse mythology storyline. But while God of War Ragnarok will mark the end of the Norse saga, it doesn't mean that it will be the end of the franchise as a whole.

The original God of War games saw Kratos take on the Greek pantheon, while the 2018 God of War and God of War Ragnarok have been all about Kratos going toe-to-toe with figures from Norse mythology. An epic showdown between Kratos and Thor is on the horizon, and since this will be the end of the Norse saga, one has to imagine that Odin may very well be involved in the new game as well. Fans will have to play God of War Ragnarok next month to find out, but in the meantime, they may be wondering what's next for the God of War franchise.

With God of War Ragnarok not even out yet, it's too early to say with any certainty where the God of War franchise will be going with its next installment. One popular theory has suggested that the next God of War game should have Kratos fighting Egyptian gods next. The latest TeaserPlay Unreal Engine 5 concept video imagines such a game, showing Kratos in ancient Egypt.

In the concept video, fans can see Kratos running around an Egyptian desert. He comes across some old ruins and an oasis. The pyramids can be seen in the background, but then a giant statue of a pharaoh rises into view. Kratos has fought his fair share of massive foes in the God of War games, so one has to imagine that he would make great quick work of the statue, but the video ends before fans get to see the fight play out.

Having Kratos square off against the Egyptian gods is certainly one direction that the next God of War game could go in, but it could also do something completely unexpected. Some fans have theorized that Kratos might die in God of War Ragnarok, with Atreus replacing him as the franchise's main character, but that remains to be seen. It would be risky to do away with such a popular character, but fans will find out when God of War Ragnarok launches next month.
