The latest God of War title released in 2018, but there are still several hidden details that fans of the game continue to discover. One detail specifically found on the box art for the game still raises questions among fans of the franchise.

God of War fans on Reddit have been discussing details in the box art thanks to a recent post from a user known as Nanoheart. This post questioned what building is lit up in the background of the God of War box art behind and above the left shoulders of Kratos and Atreus. The building appears to be some sort of castle that rests on the side of a cliff.

Some God of War Reddit fans have speculated that this building in the background of the box art is the Council of the Valkyries which appears later in the game. One Redditor suggested this castle is too high up the mountain to be the Council of the Valkyries which was submerged under the Lake of Nine before Kratos defeats all of the Valkyries. Most seem to agree that this location is too far up the mountain to be the Council of Valkyries.

One fan of The Elder Scrolls suggested that this mysterious location is actually Bleak Falls Barrow, an early location in the main storyline of Skyrim. Others chimed in with claims that it was actually High Hrothgar the home of the Greybeards of Skyrim, though the building is too low to be considered the Throat of the World.

The highest-rated suggestion to Nanoheart's question of where the box art's hidden location was is another reference to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. This fan suggested that the mountainside castle is another location of Belethor’s General Goods. With so many references to Skyrim, these Reddit comments suggest that God of War has a lot of overlapping fans with The Elder Scrolls series.

Hidden mysteries are nothing new to God of War, but fans of the series aren't used to a hidden detail in the box art being omitted from the game. One Redditor suggested that this was likely the original location for something that was cut from the game, or an existing location could've been relocated between the box art's creation and the release of God of War. This may be the most likely explanation as to what this box art location is.

While many Redditors are speculating as to which God of War location the box art features in the background, most answers are jokes. Currently, no God of War developers have suggested what this hidden box art location was intended to be. Nanoheart may have taken to Reddit to discover a new God of War detail, but most of the responses neglected to answer their initial inquiry.

God of War is available right now for PS4.
