In recent years, the God of War series has become incredibly prevalent within the modern gaming scene. Following the release of God of War (2018), the God of War franchise has become much more accessible to copious amounts of new players. However, older fans of the series likely missed Kratos' old look from the original God of War trilogy. Luckily, a talented user gives an accurate recreation of Kratos' old design with the graphics of God of War (2018).

Of the many Sony exclusive characters and franchises it has under its belt, Kratos from God of War is considered by many to be one of the most iconic. From his ash white skin, to his tragic story as a character, Kratos is a memorable character that resonates with many in the gaming community. Though, with the arrival of God of War (2018), his character design changed quite significantly, leaving many to wonder what his old self would have looked like in the new game.

A Reddit user by the name of Salad_Pizza remade Kratos' original character design in God of War (2018) and did a side by side comparison. It's weird how much difference his appearance in God of War (2018) makes with the addition of his unruly beard, compared to his much shorter, goatee-style facial hair featured throughout the original God of War trilogy.

This side-by-side comparison definitely highlights how different Kratos' character design is in the newer God of War compared to how he originally looked. Perhaps the inclusion of the longer facial hair is meant to reflect Kratos' evolution from being a ruthless warrior, to a much older and wiser individual. Then again, the inclusion of the beard could also be indicative of the Norse influence that God of War (2018) possesses, giving Kratos more of a Viking look.

In any case, it will be interesting to see if his character design changes once God of War Ragnarok is finally revealed in a more official capacity. If the epilogue scene at the ending of God of War (2018) is any indication, it's likely that the game will take place some years after the events of God of War (2018) and thus, it's possible that both Kratos and Atreus will look different in some capacity.

Although, right now there's not really any new information to go on in terms of God of War Ragnarok. The existence of the game has been public knowledge for nearly a year now and yet, there hasn't been any subsequent information revealed. Recently, a new trailer for God of War Ragnarok was leaked for next month, but there's no way to know for certain, until the trailer actually releases.

God of War (2018) is available now exclusively for PS4.
