On April 20, the PS4 version of God of War will turn one-year-old, and developer Santa Monica Studio is releasing a free God of War anniversary theme and avatar to celebrate. However, according to the game's director Cory Barlog, that isn't the only thing happening for the momentous occasion. Sharing an article that mentioned the free theme and avatar, Barlog responded by saying, "That's not all".

This quickly led to rampant speculation, with many hoping that God of War would be receiving some type of DLC as part of this anniversary celebration. Notably, this isn't the craziest idea, as Barlog has previously discussed God of War DLC as part of the plan for the action-adventure title, but it was ultimately decided against. It doesn't seem this idea is being walked back for the anniversary, because Barlog quickly clarified that his tease was not related to DLC.

Many hoping to return to the adventures of Dad and Boy may be disappointed to learn this, but the good news is that Barlog knows something that he just isn't sharing yet. What this could actually be remains to be seen, but Barlog did respond to some fan ideas concerning his God of War tease.

Some posed the question of Kratos appearing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, yet Barlog stated that he doesn't think Nintendo is as interested as he is in something like that. Another fan asked if it was a release of a "The Making of God of War" documentary, to which Barlog responded with an inquisitive emoji. This, by no means confirms what Barlog is teasing, but anything related to more God of War is likely to be well-received, especially given a God of War sequel is reportedly in the works.

Luckily, those interested in what Barlog is teasing will not have to likely wait long to see what it is. God of War turns 1 in just a few days, so perhaps Barlog's tease will be confirmed then.

God of War is available exclusively for the PS4.
