Earlier today, Nintendo held another one of its Indie World Showcases, announcing a slew of indie games coming soon to the Nintendo Switch. Possibly its biggest announcement was that Among Us is releasing for the console today, but there was another, lesser known title that, strangely enough, bears more than a few similarities to the indie hit.

Titled Gnosia, it originally released last year as a PlayStation Vita exclusive in Japan, but is now being ported to Switch and releasing in the West in early 2021. The game takes place on a spaceship, where an alien lifeform called a Gnosia has disguised itself as one of the crew members and the player must deduct who it is by speaking with everyone. The characters will then vote for who they think the Gnosia is and put them into cold sleep.

The comparisons to Among Us are obvious but, rather than a multiplayer game, Gnosia is a single-player visual novel with RPG elements. What's more, a single playthrough can last between only five and 15 minutes, with each playthrough changing who the Gnosia is. Apparently, the game takes place in some sort of time loop and the player must work out what's causing it and what exactly the Gnosia are.

Between the anime aesthetic and social elements, this could be the perfect stand-in for a new Danganronpa game. The series hasn't had a new entry since 2017's Danganronpa V3 and, despite this year marking the 10th anniversary, no new titles have been confirmed to be in development.

Gnosia will release on Nintendo Switch in early 2021.
