From House of Cards to Stranger Things to Ozark to Cobra Kai, there is no shortage of influential original series available on Netflix. And it's no surprise that Netflix has shown no signs of slowing down, as the world's biggest streaming service continues to enlist top global talent for new productions. Now, legendary Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito and others have boarded a new Netflix heist thriller titled Jigsaw, which tracks a massive heist from its decades-long planning to its execution.

Prior to this Netflix project, Esposito has had a fruitful career in film and television as a recognizable character actor. Known for smaller roles in classics like Do The Right Thing and The Usual Suspects, Esposito catapulted to A-list territory after his villainous turn as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, subsequently appearing in many big projects like the Maze Runner trilogy, The Jungle Book, The Get Down, and The Mandalorian. Esposito will soon be seen as the villain in Ubisoft's upcoming action-adventure game Far Cry 6.

Jigsaw will be eight episodes long and, in addition to Esposito, will star Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney, and Niousha Noor, among others. Esposito's role is that of Leo Rap, a veteran thief who simply can't stay away from the heist game. The series is created by Eric Garcia (author of the novels that inspired Repo Men and Matchstick Men), with House of Gucci director Ridley Scott (and his company Scott Free Productions) serving as producers and Narcos producer José Padilha directing the first two episodes. Interestingly, Jigsaw was inspired by a real story when Hurricane Sandy's floodwaters jeopardized $70 billion worth of Wall Street bearer bonds.

Jigsaw isn't the only Netflix original series coming soon to the service. Netflix is hard at work on a live-action series adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Meanwhile, the six-episode Colin Kaepernick biopic Colin in Black & White is awaiting release, as is the animated conspiracy theory comedy Inside Job. Recent series renewals include Russian Doll, Sweet Tooth, Bridgerton, Love, Death, & Robots, and the French-language sleeper hit Lupin.

Netflix isn't the only streaming service to offer a wide variety of quality content, with competitors such as Amazon Prime and HBO Max making moves to catch up at a rapid pace. But with fascinating upcoming series such as Jigsaw, Netflix is certainly able to keep up, with smart casting choices such as Espositio serving to make that mission even easier to achieve.
