As developing games has become more difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic, it makes sense that many of the games fans are anticipating heading into 2022 are games that were at one point intended for release during 2021. Delays have become commonplace in the industry, so it makes sense that a lot of recent release date announcements have come with a level of uncertainty as of late. However, Ghostwire: Tokyo, seems to be narrowing down its release window, at least if its listing on a Brazillian rating board is anything to go by.

Gameplay was first revealed for Ghostwire: Tokyo at PlayStation's Future of Gaming event in June 2020, where it was revealed that the game would be a timed PS5 console exclusive. The game was praised for its impressive visuals and art direction, but the gameplay was criticized as being hard to follow. After this, Tango GameWorks went quiet until September 2020, where it was revealed that its parent company ZeniMax Media was being acquired by Microsoft, making Tango GameWorks part of Xbox Game Studios. This made the studio Microsoft's only Japanese game developer. It was then revealed that Ghostwire: Tokyo would remain a timed PS5 exclusive for one year.

While fans did get a brief look at the game during Sony's PlayStation Showcase 2021, the short trailer spoonfed fans excited for Tango's next game and gave more information about its bizarre spirit-infested world and slick neon style, but little is known about combat. This trailer also came with the reveal that Ghostwire: Tokyo was being delayed to "Spring 2022." Fans now know that this release date is looking good for the game, as it has appeared on the Brazillian games rating board.

Generally, when games are sent for classification from ratings boards such as the ESRB and PEGI, it is during the final stage of development, once all of the game's content has been finalized and the game is approaching gold status. This means that it is more than likely that Tango GameWorks has reached the final leg of Ghostwire: Tokyo's development and that the game is in the polishing stages.

Unfortunately, the listing does not narrow down the release window for the game, although it is possible that it will be shown in a PlayStation event early in 2022. Either way, this means that the game is nearing the end of its development and that Ghostwire: Tokyo should make it out for the scheduled "Spring 2022" release window.

Ghostwire: Tokyo will be released exclusively on PC and PlayStation 5 in Spring 2022.
