A few months ago, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered was leaked via a Taiwanese rating board listing. The leak was proven right in just a couple of weeks, and Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered was announced to launch later this year. Today, fans of the popular franchise can finally sit back and relax as the remastered version of the popular action-adventure game has been confirmed to release on October 4 for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game originally launched on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 back in 2009. The game was well-received and garnered positive reviews from both critics for its entertaining gameplay and solid performances from its original movie actors. Nearly a decade after the original game's launch, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is getting remastered for current-generation consoles with updated graphics.
The remaster will feature 4K resolution, which will enhance the overall gameplay and also the cutscenes. Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is sticking to the “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy and keeping the same gameplay as it offered ten years ago.
The Ghostbusters series hasn’t been able to put out a successful video game title for a long time now. 2016's Ghostbusters video game was poorly received and other attempts at making Ghostbusters video games lately have also struggled to reach the heights as 2009's Ghostbusters: The Video Game.
Ghostbusters: Now Hiring launched on PlayStation VR back in 2017; however, the game didn’t fare any better than the previous release. Ghostbusters World made its way onto mobile devices in 2018 and received some praise for its new take on the location-based formula, but it has largely been forgotten in a genre dominated by Pokemon GO and Harry Potter.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered should be the first truly great Ghostbusters game in awhile, and if it's successful enough, perhaps it will result in more games based on the franchise being made in the future.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered will release on 4 October 2019 on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
