Last month, Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered was announced, and this Ghostbusters remaster will launch later this year for current gen consoles. The re-release will see the typical upscaling in visuals most games strive for today, with 4k resolution and a modernized control layout coming to this enhanced version of the 2009 title. For those who want to pick up a physical copy of the game though, they may need to head over to their local GameStop for any chance of doing so.

GameStop announced today that the retail version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is available for pre-order, both in-store and on the retailer's website, and this version is exclusive to GameStop. Those looking to get the game digitally won't have to worry though, as the game will available for download across various platforms. The only exclusive deal comes on the PC front, where the Epic Games Store has nabbed another exclusive deal for the remaster.

It's not uncommon for GameStop to have some sort of exclusive deal for an upcoming game. In the past, the retailer has acquired the rights to games such as Xenoblade Chronicles, for the Nintendo Wii, as well as smaller releases, such as De-formers and Song of the Deep, as part of the company's publishing arm, GameTrust. Collector's editions are the most frequent commodity GameStop likes to pick up, with recent AAA games, such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Resident Evil 2, getting exclusive collector's editions for their respective launches.

Originally launching in 2009, Ghostbusters: The Video Game received generally positive reviews across various outlets. Versions of the game for PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii all earned Metacritic scores in the upper 70s, while the PS2 and Nintendo DS version did not fare as well. The most recent Ghostbusters game from 2016, which launched alongside the movie, didn't click with most, so it's been some time since fans have been able to get their hands on a decent game based on the popular cinematic franchise.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is listed at $29.99, however, for those looking to get the game shipped, there's likely a shipping cost in addition to regular sales tax. It may be best for those close enough to a GameStop to schedule an in-store pickup in order to guarantee themselves a copy while also saving a few dollars in the process.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered will release in 2019 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
