There’s something strange going on in Hollywood and the scariest of these manifestations has called upon Ghostbusters: Afterlife to become the latest blockbuster to release a new trailer ahead of its long-overdue premiere, but this Ghostbusters trailer is definitely a class VII event on Ray's CDI system.

Although Ghostbusters: Afterlife won’t be premiering until late fall on November 11, the movie already shows plenty of promise by bringing back most of the original Ghostbusters, with the only exception being the late Harold Ramis. Considering director Jason Reitman already managed to make his father proud, Afterlife is on a much better path to success to emulate Ivan Reitman’s work.

Just like the previous trailer released in 2019, Ghostbusters: Afterlife introduces the young Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) adjusting to their new lives in Oklahoma over 30 years after the Ghostbusters' era, however, a series of supernatural phenomena are starting to pop up in rural areas just like New York in its good old days. When things get out of hand, it's time for the kids to dig out that old Ecto-1 station wagon and the rest of their grandpa's paranormal gear, as Paul Rudd's Mr. Grooberson seems to be the only one with any fresh memories of the Ghostbusters and he's even ambushed by an army of tiny Stay-Puft ghosts just like it was teased before, but the real treat here comes right towards the end of the video.

Aside from fans getting a proper first look at what these new ghosts look like ravaging over the modest town like it's a Walking Dead episode, the wonders of modern CGI take a backseat to that one second when Dr. Raymond "Ray" Stantz answers the phone from his new headquarters. This tiny teaser is the first preview from Ghostbusters: Afterlife that finally foreshadows just how Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson will slot in back into the plot joining a cast that also sees Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts reprise their respective roles

While Ghostbusters was always praised for its comedy, the new trailer clearly shows Jason Reitman is eager to add some scarier vibes to the film with the ghosts definitely looking better than they ever did before. So if this trailer is just too hype-inducing, those who can't wait until Thanksgiving to hear Aykroyd's voice again can always fall back on Ghosbusters: The Video Game to suit their needs.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled for release on November 11, 2021.
