Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the newest movie in the long-running franchise and the film is going to bring a lot of new faces into the fold. Among those newcomers is comedy favorite Paul Rudd, who is seen making a big mistake in the latest Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife introduces a new group of hunters into the fold and they're definitely a lot younger than the group that fans remember from the original film. The original Ghostbusters actors are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel, which will be the third film in the timeline that started with the first entry in 1984.

The new Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip from Rotten Tomatoes shows Rudd's character accidentally letting a specter loose while trying to utilize a trapping machine. The device takes some time to tamper with until Rudd gives it a touch, which opens up a whole new realm of terror for the protagonists. The ghost itself looked very frightening as if it were something straight out of a Stephen King book. Many are expecting this film to show some terrors while also making callbacks to the classic green Slimer ghost from the original Ghostbusters films.

Set decades after the second Ghostbusters film, the new movie will focus on a new cast of characters who, as the clip indicates, will be related to one of the original ghost hunters: Egon Spengler. The late Harold Ramis portrayed Spengler in the first two Ghostbusters films. The new Ghostbusters film will reportedly not be set in the same 'universe' as the 2016 soft reboot, but maybe there will be an easter egg or two.

What's nice about Afterlife is that it's not serving as a reboot. This movie will acknowledge the past, which is great news for those that really enjoyed what they saw in theaters back in 1984. The film will bring a new spin on the iconic franchise while also being an introduction for many new and younger fans. For many people, this will be their first Ghostbusters movie, which is very interesting, to say the least.

In a world where reboots, remakes, and sequels are prevalent, Ghostbusters: Afterlife sets to make its own way. For fans, Afterlife will hopefully start a new set of movies instead of being a 'one-and-done' project. However, if this film doesn't do well maybe it will serve as a wake-up call that not everything needs to be modernized or rebooted. Some things can still be loved for what they were when they came out during their time.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be in theaters on November 19th, 2021.
