Sony has gone ahead and confirmed that the majority of the 4000+ PS4 games available now will be backward compatible with the PlayStation 5. Along with this confirmation, the PS5 developer explained a new PS5 feature called "Game Boost," which will essentially allow a select few PlayStation 4 games to take advantage of some of the PlayStation 5's next-generation enhancements, which include 4K resolution, faster loading times, and frame rates up to 60fps.

Only a few hours after Sony's announcement and breakdown, Sucker Punch took to social media and revealed that its critically-acclaimed title Ghost of Tsushima would be one of the PS4 games capable of utilizing the Game Boost feature. The developer stated that when players boot up Ghost of Tsushima on the PS5, Game Boost will give them the additional option to run the game at up to 60fps.

Game Boost will allow Ghost of Tsushima to capitalize on the other mentioned PlayStation 5 enhancements, too. For instance, Sucker Punch claims that Ghost of Tsushima's load times will be even quicker on the PS5. The game's load times on PS4 already receive high praise for being nearly instantaneous, so seeing how fast they are on the PS5 should be exciting to witness.

Sucker Punch also confirmed that players would be able to transfer all of their PS4 save data to the PS5, which is important to know after the Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered cross-save controversy. Sony made a statement following the Spider-Man reveal that said it would be up to developers to determine whether their game would be able to cross-save between the PS4 and the PS5, as the ability to do so wouldn't be inherent.

Even more so than its loading times, Ghost of Tsushima gets a lot of praise for how beautiful it looks while only being a PS4 title, so most fans of the game have fantasized about what it would be like running at 60fps with 4K resolution on the PS5. Admittedly, Sucker Punch didn't say anything about Ghost of Tsushima running at 4K, so while the 60fps is confirmed, 4k capability isn't.

However, the possibility certainly exists, considering most of the other Game Boost options apply to the title.

Hopefully, the game will run at 4K. GoT receives its Ghost of Tsushima: Legends update soon, and that will provide it with multiplayer content and a New Game + option. Overall, the update is a great opportunity for fans to experience the Ghost of Tsushima all over again, but in much higher quality on the PlayStation 5.

Ghost of Tsushima is on PS4.
