In Ghost of Tsushima's latest 1.1 update, developer Sucker Punch Productions added a new cooperative player mode called Legends. In this new mode, players are given a choice to select one of four warrior classes that they can play as in this online-only game mode that offers new missions based on Japanese mythology. Overall, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends offers two-player missions and four-player survival missions in this new game mode.

The biggest questions that most players are probably asking now is which class to pick in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, and while the Samurai, Hunter, and Assassin are good picks, the Ronin is also something that players should consider. Now, for those interested in knowing more about the Ronin class, here is an overview of what it offers, its abilities and equipment, and whether this is the best class to pursue.

What is The Ronin Class?

In Ancient Japan, a Ronin was a Samurai without a lord or master, which is why in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a Ronin is just as capable in battle as a Samurai. However, the ability that separates the Ronin from the rest of the classes is its ability to revive players instantly. Of course, in a co-op game, the healer is one of the most vital members of any party, given that a quick revive could mean life and death in the heat of battle. Moreover, the most important factor why many players are choosing the Ronin among the rest is its Ultimate.

Ronin Class Abilities and Equipment

As previously mentioned, players who are efficient in playing the role as a support character would most definitely feel right at home with the Ronin. Given its importance to any party, the Ronin is given a series of buffs and nerfs that are scattered around a wide-range of skillset that players can utilize in every enemy encounter. Having the ability to control the effectiveness of ally attacks while being able to damper down the critical strikes of enemies is certainly the best skill a good Ronin should have.

Heading over to equipment, the Ronin Class utilizes the Kunai and Smoke Bombs, making them perfect for stunning enemies allowing other team members to make an effective offense. Moreover, the Ronin also has a unique skill called the Spirit Animal, which allows players to summon a friendly dog for a short amount of time. Now, for those who are interested in the full skillset of the Ronin, here is a breakdown of each of them and what they do.

  • Breath of Izanami: Ultimate - Revive all downed allies
  • Spirit Animal: Rank 1, Class Ability - Summon a friendly dog companion for a short amount of time
  • Healing Incense: Rank 10, Class Ability - Deploy a small incense that heals nearby allies
  • Enhanced Ghost Weapons: Rank 2, Perk 1 - Increase damage from all Ghost Weapons by 50%
  • Weakening Burst: Rank 7, Perk 1 - Weaken enemies so they deal 25% less damage and take 25% more damage
  • Ronin Unleashed: Rank 14, Perk 1 - Decrease class ability cooldown by 15%
  • Stagerring Imposition: Rank 3, Perk 2 - Increase Stagger damage inflicted by 15%
  • Resolve Increase: Rank 9, Perk 2 - Increase max Resolve by 1
  • Quick Regen: Rank 16, Perk 2 - Increase healing received and health regen by 50%
  • Soothing Breath: Rank 5, Perk 3 - Breath of Izanami now also applies a heal over time on all players for 8 seconds
  • Fire Breath: Rank 11, Perk 3 - Breath of Izanami now also ignites enemies near all players
  • Legendary: Rank 18, Perk 3 - Increases the number of Legendary items you can equip by 1

Is The Ronin The Right Class For You?

Overall, the Ronin Class is the best one for those players who wish to play the role as the primary support for the party. It's best skill is Breath of Izanami, which could come in handy during a tough battle given its ability to revive all downed allies. Moreover, one of the best abilities that makes the Ronin an essential part of the team is its ability to buff the skills and abilities of allies, while weakening the attack of nearby enemies. However, it is important to note that given all the abilities and skills that the Ronin must utilize perfectly, it is probably not the best class to pick for beginner players or those who wish to serve as the primary attacker of the party such as a Samurai.
