After kicking off the PlayStation 4 era with Infamous: Second Son, Sucker Punch is closing it with a bang thanks to Ghost of Tsushima. The Samurai inspired game has already become a smash hit for Sony, pulling in acclaim from fans and critics alike. The title also revealed new DLC content called Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, adding a cooperative element to the single player experience. Thanks to a recent release of an art book, new details for the anticipated multiplayer mode have leaked earlier than expected.

The leak specifically comes from Dark Horse and its recently released book called The Art of Ghost of Tsushima. The 200 page book features both concept and game art as well as behind the scenes details from the studio. Unexpectedly, the art book also covers the upcoming Legends co-op mode, something that has not been discussed at length by Sony or Sucker Punch after the reveal trailer first arrived.

As expected, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends introduces players to a more fictionalized version of Tsushima Island, one that places a greater emphasis on mythology. The landscapes here are described as having a dreamlike quality to them instead of focusing on the natural beauty from the main campaign. They're designed with more exaggerated features and color palette that is reminiscent of ancient Japanese woodblock prints.

In addition to the landscape, the mode introduces a character known as The Storyteller, a masked figure who is all-seeing and knowing. His mask is described as constantly changing as he creates new stories to tell. One image shows a spirit dragon flying around him, while another shows lanterns rising up above him.  He also appears to have some sort of connection to nature as he's surrounded by animals such as foxes or cranes.

The book also shows off new enemy types that are quite different from what players saw inside of Jin's story. Here, masked warriors, Oni demons, and other creatures bring mysticism to life. One image shows a figure with a white mask and black eyes, draped in a white robe with massive, gnarled limbs.

The Chapter closes with a quick glimpse at the UI, showing the player characters in a lobby, with a massive Torii gate in the background. The menu system appears to be similar to the pause menu of the base game, though the colors black and red are used more prominently. The menu items also list things called Crafting and Feats, likely giving players additional things to chase and progress as they play.

So far, Sucker Punch has remained fairly quiet on the upcoming Legends DLC. It'll be a free addition to the game and what may surprise many fans is that it won't have any microtransactions. Players will be able to unlock everything through gameplay, a fact which seems to get rarer and rarer these days in the gaming industry.

Ghost of Tsushima is out now on the PlayStation 4.
