Sucker Punch Productions gives fans an idea of how long Ghost of Tsushima will take to beat. The developer revealed much more about the gameplay and features of its PS4 exclusive title last week in an 18-minute long Ghost of Tsushima stream.

Speaking to Brazilian publication Voxel, Ghost of Tsushima creative director Nate Fox said that it is "difficult" to answer the question of how long the game is because of its size. When Sucker Punch Productions was testing the game, it had testers playing it for six and a half hours a day, but many didn't complete the story because they were busy looking at other things on the island of Tsushima. Fox has also confirmed that Ghost of Tsushima is the biggest game that the team has developed, so many will be not surprised to hear that some players got sidetracked.

The publication then asked Fox if it would be possible for Ghost of Tsushima players to spend 30, 40, or 50+ hours completing all of these optional activities. Fox confirmed the game could last that long, but it would take less to get through the game's story. The developer also said that he would "highly recommend" that players don't just go through the game's story and that they look at everything else Tsushima has to offer them.

JIn Ghost of Tsushima

Fans were able to see many of Ghost of Tsushima's optional activities in last week's new gameplay video. The game features resources to pick up, shrines to visit, and new outfits for protagonist Jin to wear. Players will also be able to follow animals such as foxes and birds as they will lead Jin to important areas and new things to see on the island. The game features no waypoints, meaning that players will have to look for environmental clues like this to get around.

Ghost of Tsushima also offers several ways for players to be creative, something which could add to the time that they spend in it. A photo mode has been confirmed as has a Samurai Cinema mode which makes the game look like an old samurai movie.

What may be more surprising though is that Sucker Punch Productions has managed to keep Ghost of Tsushima's file size so small. If the game offers as many hours of gameplay as Fox suggests it does, many will be shocked to learn that it doesn't completely take up the PS4's hard drive.

Ghost of Tsushima will release on July 17 for PS4.
