The brand-new Ghost of Tsushima game has a lot of unique aspects to it, including some amazing customization options and an immersive HUD-less experience in game. One of the markers that the devs used to lead players to interesting locations is called a Golden Bird.

What is a Golden Bird?

In Ghosts of Tsushima, there are several visual cues that can lead players to in-game goodies, side quests, and places of interest, like the foxes and fox dens as well as the golden birds. These in-game hints replace a traditional mini map or HUD markers, forcing the player to pay more attention to their surroundings.

The Golden Birds are one of these hints that can guide players to specific locations. Although players can't pet the bird like they can pet the foxes in Ghosts of Tsushima, they are still super useful in the game. Here is a picture of one for reference:

What Can a Golden Bird Lead Players To?

While players are out wandering Tsushima Island as Jin, no matter which horse and name a player chose, they will come across tons of Golden Birds. The songbird will approach Jin on his horse, making a distinct noise to attract his attention. If a player chooses to follow a Golden Bird, they can find all sorts of items and locations. Following them will lead players to points of interest, collectibles, side quests, hot springs, and even just scenic views.

Players don't have to follow the birds, even if they work hard to get their attention. But if players do choose to follow the birds, the worst thing they will find will be a beautiful, scenic place to rest and clean Jin's sword. There is no penalty for ignoring the little songbirds, so choose the option that works best for that moment in the game.

This is just another part of the immersive experience that the Sucker Punch developers worked to create in Ghosts of Tsushima, along with the expansive views, incredibly fast loading times, and a deep story.

Ghost of Tsushima is available for PlayStation 4.
