Late last week, Ubisoft surprised gamers with the reveal of a new event for Ghost Recon: Wildlands themed around Splinter Cell. Today, the developer/publisher has provided full details on the event, dubbed Special Operations 1, which starts tomorrow, April 10th.

For fans of Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ PvE gameplay, Special Operations 1 will offer a mission that sees the Ghosts helping Sam Fisher (voiced by original actor Michael Ironside) infiltrate a heavily guarded camp. It’s unclear if Fisher will actually accompany the Ghosts on this mission, but if nothing else it should be a pleasant surprise for fans to hear Ironside again.

As can be expected, completing the mission will offer players the chance to collect unique Splinter Cell-themed gear. Not everything that is available was listed by Ubisoft, but the company did call out Sam Fisher’s night vision goggles for those that want to look as close to the Fourth Echelon operative as possible.

Character customization options will also be available through the Splinter Cell equipment pack, which includes weapons and gear themed after Ubisoft’s stealth franchise. There is no word on pricing (if the pack does cost real money), but it seems this is how players will be able to deck out their Ghost to look like a Fourth Echelon member.

On the PvP side, Ubisoft is adding a new class called Echelon to the Ghost War mix themed after Sam Fisher. The class is focused on stealth and features a sonar pulse ability and a sleek, all black outfit.

Unlike the Splinter Cell mission, however, the Echelon class must be purchased, either as part of Ghost Recon: Wildlands’ Season Pass or with Prestige Points. Those that unlock the class through the Season Pass will get a week of early access to play around with it.

All of the new content will roll out on April 10th, but not all of it will become a core part of Ghost Recon: Wildlands moving forward. Specifically, the Splinter Cell mission will only be available until May 2nd, so those that want to get in on the action have about a month to do so.

Moreover, those that might want to try the new Ghost Recon: Wildlands content but don’t have the game yet are in luck. Ubisoft is offering a free trial from April 12th to the 15th that will include access to the base game, the Ghost War PvP mode, and the Predator mission that was released a few months back.
