If you had purchased a copy of Splinter Cell: Conviction and were excited about the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier beta key that came along with it, only to find out the beta never came, it’s time to relax.
According to Twitter, the multiplayer beta for Future Soldier will be coming early next year. Better late than never, right?
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will bring back the elite special forces detachment after what will be a five year absence. E3 2011 had brought the first playable version of the game, where we got a chance to check out what Ubisoft was bringing to the table in this latest incarnation of the tactical shooter. Future Soldier will also be utilizing the Kinect for certain aspects of the gameplay – though some of the implementations have yet to be announced.
If you have checked out the E3 2011 gameplay, you will have seen the new squad A.I. acting in a much more realistic and dynamic way. Players will no longer have to spend time babysitting their squad and can focus more time on the action.
The multiplayer beta confirmation comes from the official Ghost Recon Twitter account, confirming there will be a beta in early January 2012. Players who still have their Future Soldier beta codes may still get to use them.
“We know you have been asking about the beta. We’re excited to announce that the MP beta will be launching in January 2012!”
Players will be able to rejoice and enjoy whatever changes Ubisoft is implementing for Future Soldier multiplayer. There will for sure be changes, but the kinds of gameplay modes that players have enjoyed since Advanced Warfighter may still be retaining their appearances. The cooperative, mission-based gameplay modes for sure would surely be missed by fans of the series if they weren’t included.
Ghost Recon is a great series of games that exemplified the kind of speculative military fiction that Tom Clancy games were renowned for. Whereas the Rainbow Six games were more about counter-terrorism and Splinter Cell was about tradecraft and the more covert notions. Ghost Recon feels a bit more special because soldiers are starting to move more and more in the direction and technological capability that Future Soldier portrays.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be releasing In Q1 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
