Ubisoft's announcement of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint caught the eyes of gamers the world over, and fans of the franchise will likely appreciate the myriad of new features such as the multiple endings and the fact that Ghost Recon Breakpoint has raids. However, while it will release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, PC Gamers may find their choice of digital distribution platform limited, as the tactical shooter title will not be available on Steam.

Like previous Ubisoft titles' Anno 1800 and The Division 2, Ghost Recon Breakpoint on PC will only be available on two platforms: Ubisoft's service Uplay or the Epic Games Store. Ubisoft's motivation behind this decision is not entirely explained, but neither is it entirely surprising considering the pattern Ubisoft has established so far. In a way, this is not Epic Games Store exclusivity in the sense that previous titles have only been exclusive for a short time period (6 months to a year) and was only available on that platform.

In this way, Ghost Recon Breakpoint will not appear on Steam at any given point in the foreseeable future. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney has previously stated that his company would stop pursuing exclusivity deals if Valve, the company behind Steam, would take a smaller cut of the sales. This seems incredibly unlikely, however, and even if it were to happen, it's not certain if that means Ubisoft would consider bringing titles like Ghost Recon Breakpoint to the platform.

Regardless of how gamers choose to play Ghost Recon Breakpoint, it is set to launch across platforms (except Steam, of course) on October 4, 2019. While little is currently known about the title, we do know that it will launch with 5 character classes that will be expanded upon later in DLC, though to what extent is not fully clarified.

For those on the fence about Ubisoft's latest Tom Clancy title for whatever reason, it's worth mentioning that the developer has released 13 minutes of Ghost Recon Breakpoint gameplay. This, combined with whatever details Ubisoft reveals over the coming months, will hopefully bring some clarity for those who have their doubts.
