Ubisoft Has A Big Post-Launch Plan For Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Ghost Recon Breakpoint Gameplay

Ubisoft has just revealed Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and it's a game that will mark plenty of franchise-firsts for Ubisoft's tactical shooter: it will have dialogue choices, raids, new survival elements, and even multiple endings. When we sat down with Ghost Recon creative director Eric Couzian, he was quick to emphasize that players will have plenty to do on the island of Auroa - and that lots of additional content will arrive post-launch.

At the start of the game, players will have five different character classes to pick from, which cover the basics like sharpshooter, a stealth persona, and an assault run-and-gun build. According to Eric Couzian, however, the studio plans to quickly increase this number after the game launches. He didn't specify an exact number, simply stating that multiple classes would arrive in the post-launch window.

Players will be able to pick from any of these classes as they tackle late-game raids, which mark the only Ghost Recon Breakpoint content players won't be able to access straight from the get-go. It'll take players a few days to progress far enough into the game to unlock the raid system in Ghost Recon Breakpoint, which takes place on a separate island and contains its own detailed storyline. Couzian couldn't go into specifics, but this is the kind of late-game content that keeps the hardcore fans coming back - and Ubisoft will be supporting it post-launch with this in mind.

Ubisoft has also confirmed that PVP content will be available at launch. Wildlands received some significant PVP updates post-launch, with squads of four entering in a head-to-head deathmatch against one another in a contest of strategy and skill. It's not clear what PVP content will launch with the newest franchise entrant this October, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the post-launch content plan bring more updates to that mode, either.

Couzian has already put two years of post-launch content into Wildlands, so when he states that there's a big focus on post-launch Ghost Recon Breakpoint content, it's worth taking note. Fans of the franchise who are up-to-date with the aforementioned post-launch content will have already seen main antagonist Cole D. Walker (Jon Bernthal), who was once a Ghost Team Leader before defecting due to his own personal reasons.

With the narrative of the game still shrouded in mystery, there's still plenty left for Ubisoft to reveal - and it's the same for the company's big post-launch DLC plan for Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint will release on October 4, 2019, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
