Ghost of Tsushima was extremely well-received by the PlayStation community earlier this year. The game was unsurprisingly the top selling PS4 game of July, but continued to sell incredibly well months after release. While the hype surrounding Ghost of Tsushima has died down as fall approaches, Sucker Punch is looking to rekindle that hype with this massive update to the game. The update adds brand new charms and various other features that will allow players to experience the game in a fresh, new way.

One of those brand new charms actually allows players to pet and befriend Mongol dogs while invading enemy camps. Sucker Punch detailed the update, revealing that a new Charm of Canine Recruitment in New Game+ can be used to let the player recruit and pet dogs. The feature will also carry into Ghost of Tsushima’s new co-op mode as confirmed in a follow-up tweet. This may seem like a small change, but this new Charm of Canine Recruitment is a great way to shake up the somewhat repetitive Mongol camp encounters.

Similar to how players can sometimes pet the foxes after following them to Inari Shrines, Jin look to be able to approach docile enemy dogs and pet them. After petting them, it appears that the dogs will remain at Jin’s side and help him fight in his next encounter. Additionally, players can likely expect more new charms like the Charm of Canine Recruitment to be included in the 1.1 version update. Ghost of Tsushima has tons of fun charms for players to try out, and this new charm looks to be a welcome addition to Jin’s repertoire.

The new additions Sucker Punch is adding to the game will no doubt give players plenty of reason to go back and explore the beautiful island of Tsushima. The Legends mode also looks to be a ghostly, spooky venture into the more spiritual side of Tsushima, and it’s arriving during the perfect time of year. What’s more is that the Legends co-op multiplayer DLC is free, so players won’t need to spend any additional money. It looks like there’s a lot to be excited about for Ghost of Tsushima’s version 1.1 update.

Ghost of Tsushima is out now on PlayStation 4.
