Ghost of Tsushima was a major hit for PlayStation and Sucker Punch as many praised the game's immersive open-world and storytelling. Fortunately, it appears that Sucker Punch is developing a new open-world game featuring a certain gameplay element from Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Tsushima centers around Jin Sakai and a tale surrounding the Mongol invasion of Japan. Specifically, the Mongols land on Tsushima Island and lay waste to the brave samurai forces that stood their ground. Following the siege of the Tsushima coast, Jin battles Khotun Khan, the grandson of Genghis Khan, but is no match for the renowned warrior. After being rescued by the thief Yuna, Jin contemplates the way of the samurai as the Mongol threat treads toward the mainland.

Sucker Punch's next open-world appears to have a focus on stealth, which was one of the key gameplay elements within Ghost of Tsushima. A new job listing at Sucker Punch requires an encounter designer with 2 years or more of AAA development experience in stealth and action games. One of the major requirements for the encounter designer position include delivering "interesting and varied in an open-world game, with a particular focus on melee combat and stealth." Furthermore, one of the bonus factors involved with the job include being happy "working closely with ninjas in other disciplines." On the surface, the job listing implies a potential Ghost of Tsushima sequel.

When the number of Mongol invaders was too great, Jin Sakai excelled in guerrilla warfare and stealth. As the Ghost, Jin wielded a bow for incapacitate foes at a distance, lurked in the shadows to sabotage Mongol strongholds, and assassinated warriors with his tanto blade. A future Sucker Punch game could bring similar elements to the forefront of their next open-world title. All signs point toward Sucker Punch capitalizing on its strengths in the stealth genre in a Ghost of Tsushima sequel.

Ghost of Tsushima's success is proof of Sucker Punch's talent in developing action and stealth games. A new open-world stealth game or Ghost of Tsushima sequel could incorporate valuable player feedback from Ghost of Tsushima while introducing new elements into the mix. Additionally, the new game would likely be developed from the ground up with PlayStation 5 to take advantage of newer technology.

On the other hand, Sucker Punch has yet to revisit Sly Cooper or Infamous, two cult-classic franchises under the PlayStation umbrella. Some may feel that another open-world game comes too soon after Ghost of Tsushima. Many look forward to what Sucker Punch is developing next, and it's certain to garner a lot of attention once a reveal finally arrives.
