Tons of information was revealed during today's Ghost of Tsushima State of Play presentation, including an in-depth look at the game's photo mode. Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode goes above and beyond, allowing players to customize every aspect of the game to create the perfect picture.

Photo modes are nothing new in video games, but Sucker Punch's photo modes have typically been among the best in the industry. Insomniac Game's Spider-Man's photo mode was also great, allowing players to apply numerous filters and stickers to the scene and even letting people change Spidey's facial expression. Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode contains all those features and more, making it one of the most robust photo modes in any game to date.

The photo mode in Ghost of Tsushima allows players to change things like color grading, depth of field, and Jin's facial expression. While these are still appreciated inclusions, Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode adds several new features that will give players much more control of the scene. The wind direction and speed can be adjusted, as can the particle's effects on the screen.

Various types of leaves and fireflies can be added, and music from the game's original score can be added to set the right mood. These things have been added because Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode does not completely pause the game. Instead, the characters are frozen but the environment can remain in motion if the player chooses. This allows players to create short videos showcasing the grass swaying in the wind or leaves falling down amidst a duel.

After detailing the game's photo mode, the Ghost of Tsushima State of Play presentation went on to showcase four videos the developers have created using the mode. One features Jin climbing with a rope, the second shows him in a yellow forest, the third has him riding through a field of white flowers, and the final one is of two swordsmen surrounded by fireflies. Each of these videos highlights the new additions in Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode, most notably the ability to keep the environment in motion around the frozen characters.

Ghost of Tsushima's photo mode is a welcome addition to the game. The art direction and world of Ghost of Tsushima are stunning, and fans will likely want to take tons of photos and videos of the environment once the game launches. The ability to take videos is an excellent new feature, and it will allow people to capture gorgeous moments where the wind blows and leaves fall around characters.

Ghost of Tsushima will be released on July 17 for PlayStation 4.
