While conducting a recent Q&A session with GameStop, Sucker Punch Studios chatted about their upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima. One of the subjects brought up is the fact that the game includes "several" hidden Easter eggs that reference their past titles.

The studio detailed that multiple Easter eggs appear in Ghost of Tsushima, with one of them being a reference to their PlayStation 3 action-adventure franchise, Infamous. Sucker Punch failed to elaborate on the Easter eggs any further, only commenting that if fans really "know what to look for," then they shouldn't have an issue spotting the in-game references.

Infamous was released for the PlayStation 3 on May 26, 2009, to critical and commercial success, spawning a sequel in 2011. The series got its third and final installment on the PlayStation 4, entitled Infamous: Second Son, which was released in 2014, fairly early into the console's life.

Easter eggs and guest appearances are nothing new to Sucker Punch's electrical superhero, with an Infamous reference appearing in the fourth Sly Cooper installment, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. The Easter egg came in the form of allowing the player to replace Sly's cane with Cole's signature weapon, his electric amp.

Cole appeared as not one, but two separate playable fighters in Sony's 2012 mascot fighter Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale. The player could choose between Cole McGrath and Evil Cole. Additionally, 2012 was evidently a big year for the character, as Cole also appeared as a PlayStation-exclusive fighter in Capcom's crossover fighting game, Street Fighter X Tekken.

The series has died down quite a bit since the launch of the PS4, but perhaps the Ghost of Tsushima Easter eggs are a sign that Sucker Punch still has some interest in returning to the series. Infamous isn't the only franchise getting Easter eggs this generation, with Paper Mario: The Origami King having some Easter eggs of its own.

Ghost of Tsushima releases later this month as an exclusive for the PlayStation 4 console. It's likely going to be one of the last exclusives for the system before its successor launches at the end of the year, though the PS5 already has a whole slew of new games announced for it.

Ghost of Tsushima launches exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on July 17, 2020.
