Many people consider Ghost of Tsushima to be one of the most beautiful games ever created, and that's just from seeing it on the PlayStation 4. However, Ghost of Tsushima released so close to the PlayStation 5's launch date that some can't help but wonder what the game would look like using the console's next-generation technology, particularly the PlayStation 5's 4K and 60fps support.

YouTuber SnazzyAI also pondered this question, and decided to seek the answer out for themselves. They created and uploaded a video to their YouTube channel that shows Ghost of Tsushima running at 4K and 60fps. Essentially, the video shows something close to what Ghost of Tsushima would look like if the game were ever to get a PlayStation 5 port, and the result is pretty stunning.

According to Snazzy AI, they used AI-based video interpolation to emulate the 60fps and 4K visuals. It took them more than 24 hours to render the video, which comes out to a little over 6 minutes of enhanced Ghost of Tsushima gameplay. Within that time frame, the video captures and displays significant aspects of Ghost of Tsushima, including its combat, exploration, and cutscenes.

The PlayStation 5 will be backward compatible with the majority of PlayStation 4 titles, and players can expect the most popular of these to make the cut. Ghost of Tsushima is one of the PS4's best-selling games, so it should work with the PlayStation 5. Still, that doesn't mean it will be able to take advantage of all the consoles' features, such as 4K visuals and 60fps. For that, Ghost of Tsushima would need an actual PS5 upgrade.

Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch hasn't given any news on whether Ghost of Tsushima will receive a PlayStation 5 upgrade. It's certainly possible for the game to get one given it released close to the end of the PlayStation 4's time as a current-gen console, meaning Sucker Punch could have made plans to give it a PS5 port.

The studio has announced Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a free Ghost of Tsushima update that will give the game multiplayer. However, Sucker Punch said at one point after Ghost's launch that it had developed the game with an entirely single-player experience in mind. At some point then, maybe after Legends releases, Sucker Punch could reveal a "Definitive Edition" for Ghost of Tsushima that's releasing for the PS5. Only time will tell.

Ghost of Tsushima is available now on PS4.
