One of 2020's biggest games was the PlayStation 4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch. An open world samurai game, Ghost of Tsushima earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its release, and managed to continue its momentum with a multiplayer expansion that was released sometime after launch. Now it seems that Ghost of Tsushima fans may have even more content to look forward to, as a project called Ghost of Ikishima has leaked online.

Ghost of Ikishima is reportedly a standalone expansion for Ghost of Tsushima, likely in a similar vein to how Spider-Man: Miles Morales is to Marvel's Spider-Man, with a planned 2021 release date. Ghost of Ikishima was outed by Shpeshal_Nick, an insider who is mostly known for leaking Xbox news. Fans should take this with a grain of salt for now, but another known insider, Resetera user KatharsisT, also chimed in on the leaked Ghost of Tsushima follow-up.

KatharsisT confirmed that Ghost of Ikishima is a single-player game, so those wondering if it was meant to be another Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer experience can likely lay that speculation to rest. What's unclear, however, is exactly what PlayStation platforms Ghost of Ikishima is coming to.

Shpeshal_Nick is not sure if Ghost of Ikishima will be a PS5 exclusive game or if it will be a cross-gen title that's also available on PlayStation 4. While Sony has released a handful of pure PlayStation 5 exclusives so far, the majority of its first-party titles are being released on both platforms, as is the case with the upcoming Horizon: Forbidden West and the God of War sequel. Shpeshal_Nick's guess is that Ghost of Ikishima will be a cross-gen game, but fans will have to wait for an official announcement to be sure.

If the leaked Ghost of Tsushima standalone expansion Ghost of Ikishima is real, then one has to wonder when exactly it will be revealed. According to the leaked information, Ghost of Ikishima is looking to launch at some point in 2021, and if that's the case, then one has to imagine that the game will be revealed sooner rather than later. However, there are no big upcoming gaming events that seem like they would be a good fit for a Ghost of Ikishima reveal.

That being said, there are rumors that Sony will host a new PlayStation State of Play event soon as its E3 2021 equivalent presentation. Sony has not officially confirmed any such event, though, so fans should keep their expectations in check for now.

Ghost of Ikishima is rumored to be in development.
