The Pokemon Company has dropped the awaited 2.0. update for the Pokemon Home application, adding support for some of the more recent mainline Pokemon games, such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus and Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl. The app is free to download and can come in handy for trainers that would like to move Pokemon over from one game to another.
One of the features that the Switch version of Pokemon Home has over the mobile version is that players can turn in their points and send them over to other games. It can be somewhat confusing to navigate both the mobile version and Switch version of Pokemon Home, so this guide will go over how to get Points in Pokemon Home, and what they can be used for.
How to Check Points
In the mobile version of Pokemon Home, players will be able to see their total number of points by looking in the "Your Room" tab --the number will appear next to the player's name.
For the Switch version of Pokemon Home, click the icon on the bottom that has a P with a circle around it. This takes players to the Points menu, where they can be exchanged.
How to Get Points in Pokemon Home
The Pokemon Home application doesn't explicitly say how to collect points, but, according to the official site, "Pokemon Home points are points that accumulate in Pokemon Home as you deposit more Pokemon. When using the Nintendo Switch version of Pokemon HOME, you’ll be able to exchange your Pokemon Home points for BP (Battle Points) to be used in core Pokemon series games."
It seems to work similarly to interest in a savings account. The more Pokemon that are hanging out in Pokemon Home's storage boxes, the more points players will earn day after day. Points will not be earned as soon as the Pokemon are deposited, so players will need to wait it out until they see points added to their account.
This information may not be accurate, but a Reddit user has stated that Pokemon Home players should earn around 1 Point for every 36 Pokemon stored. According to them, at 6000 full storage spots, Pokemon Home players can get 5555 points per day.
What Are Points Used for in Pokemon Home
By using the Switch version of Pokemon Home, players can transfer their points to other games. If the points are moved over to Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Merit Points will be obtained. On the other hand, Battle Points (BP) will be obtained if transferred over to Sword/Shield or Pokemon BDSP.
What's the Premium Plan?
The players out there that would like more storage space to have a chance at getting the maximum amount of Pokemon Home points can cough up a few dollars to have access to the Premium Plan. To upgrade to the Premium Plan, hit the Nintendo eShop button in the main menu of Pokemon Home for Switch. For the mobile version, go to Options and then select 'Check Plan.'
The upgrade is available for $2.99 a month, or folks can do a three-month plan for $4.99, or a 12-month plan for $15.99. The plan includes these features:
- Move Pokemon over from Pokemon Bank
- Deposit and store up to 6000 Pokemon
- Have up to 10 Pokemon up for trade in your Wonder Box at a time
- Have up to three Pokemon up for trade on the GTS at a time
- Create Room Trades
- Gain access to the Judge function
