Recently, HoYoverse, previously known as miHoYo, released the Genshin Impact Sumeru update which brought with it an updated area to explore and several new Dendro interactions. Most fans are quite pleased with Sumeru's latest expansion of Teyvat, the immersive storylines, and the finer details applied to the overall design of the Dendro nation.

The introduction of the adorable denizens of the forest, the Aranara, is one of the cutest highlights in version 3.0, but the complicated puzzles and quests that come with it are also captivating all on their own. The long-anticipated characters Tighnari and Collei are also here, along with new enemies, and a lush landscape. There's so much for players to explore and do, that even fans of the Indiana Jones franchise may be able to glean hours of enjoyment from the latest Genshin Impact update.

Genshin's 3.0 Update is Filled with Puzzles

Genshin Impact

Epic Games' Fortnite recently implemented Indiana Jones-themed elements into its Battle Royale which required players to collect relics to complete quests. As this collaboration took place during July, the recent team-up may mean that Indiana Jones is at the forefront of some gamers' minds. Genshin Impact's universe has consistently been compelling in terms of traversal mechanics, domain designs, mobs, and so on. However, the newest region seems to be taking that action and adventure to a whole new level.

Sumeru is equipped with mystery tasks and hidden missions, such as the Apam Woods puzzle, all of which challenges players to think critically in order to obtain exclusive regional rewards. Because the nation worships the God of Wisdom, Lesser Lord Kusanali, and formerly Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, it's clear that sharpening the mind and rationality are important in this culture. This is further emphasized by the existence of the largest library in the entire game, the House of Daena, being placed within The Akademiya, Sumeru's main governing body.

Sumeru Encourages Players to Explore

Sumeru Temple

One of the best elements in the game is getting the chance to explore new places, though some areas in Genshin Impact are harder to traverse than others. Running around the fourth Teyvat region with a person's desired team can sometimes feel a bit like watching an action-heavy quest-oriented film, especially with the various obstacles that must be avoided and engaging plot lines like searching for the Dendro Archon and helping the Aranara to restore the forest.

Much of Sumeru presents a jungle-like environment, which could continue that general theme of treasure hunting and adventure. For example, to complete the Varuna Gatha chapter of the Aranyaka, players must find and harvest 12 Nurseries that in turn see the Vasmtri planted safely in the Dream Nursery. During this quest, a flower tile puzzle awaits them that must be completed to see it all finished which isn't completely dissimilar to the meticulousness that Indiana Jones needed in Raiders of the Lost Ark to remove the Golden Idol from its pedestal.

Additionally, in the films, Indiana Jones was a professor of archeology which means that the 3.1 update for Sumeru could be of interest to those who would like to explore an ancient temple or pyramid within a desert biome. While being able to explore these places has not been officially confirmed by HoYoverse, the leak about the next Genshin Impact update came from popular Twitter user Project Celestia who originally found the temple in the 3.1 beta testing phase.

Only time itself will truly be able to say if adventure film devotees would enjoy exploring Sumeru. With Genshin Impact 3.1 confirmed to go live by September 28 along with three new characters, hopefully the developers will continue to deliver enticing quests and compelling storylines about the newly accessible nation.

Genshin Impact is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
