Aloy, the celebrated protagonist from Horizon Zero Dawn, has arrived in the world of Genshin Impact as a playable character, much to the delight of fans of both games. As a Cryo archer with a five-star rating, Aloy brings with her an array of useful abilities, making her an incredibly versatile addition to many teams. Her arrival in the game has been highly anticipated by fans, as she marks the first and only collaboration character in Genshin Impact so far. What's even better is that every player was gifted with Aloy during the collaboration duration, although her constellations cannot be obtained like other characters.

Despite not being one of the most popular or strongest characters in Genshin Impact, Aloy can still be a valuable addition to a team in need of a Cryo main DPS or sub-DPS. Her unique playstyle and talent kit can offer a fun experience for players, though her lower damage modifiers may pose a challenge in comparison to other characters. However, with proper build and gameplay strategy, Aloy can still prove to be a satisfying and entertaining choice for those who appreciate her character or enjoy using less popular options.

6 Comparing Her To Other Bow Characters

Aloy, a Cryo bow user in Genshin Impact, is often compared to other bow characters such as Ganyu and Yoimiya. While Ganyu is also a Cryo bow user, her playstyle heavily relies on charged attacks, whereas Aloy is more effective with her normal attacks as she can infuse them with Cryo.

Yoimiya, on the other hand, may have some similarities to Aloy, since they can both infuse their normal attacks with Cryo and Pyro respectively, but they have their own unique nuances and differences in gameplay. It is important to note that while some characters may share similar characteristics, they still have distinct play styles and strengths. Comparing them too directly can be misleading. On the other hand, Aloy can be built similarly to Yoimiya, but the differences between them in terms of gameplay are akin to the differences between Keqing and Alhaitham in many ways.

5 Not Building Her Right

While some players may think that the best artifacts for Aloy are the 4-piece Blizzard Strayer set due to her Cryo element, this is only viable if she is played in a team composition that focuses on Freeze reactions. Additionally, Aloy cannot effectively use the 4-piece Shimenawa's Reminiscence set like Yoimiya, as her infusion works differently, and she may not be able to make good use of the full buff duration.

It's important to note that Aloy's burst is quite strong and has a low energy requirement, so it would be wasteful not to use it as often as possible. On the other hand, like Ganyu, she can also excel in melt compositions. Therefore, a 2-piece Blizzard Strayer set combined with a 2-piece Elemental Mastery or ATK% set, or even a Noblesse Oblige set, can be more versatile and beneficial for Aloy. It goes without saying that she can also make use of many 4-star and 5-star DPS bow options effectively, regardless of her role.

4 Underestimating Her Burst

Aloy's Elemental Burst, Prophecies of Dawn, boasts impressive modifiers at its maximum level, while only requiring 40 Energy and having a short cooldown of 12 seconds, similar to Zhongli's Elemental Burst. Despite being an AOE burst that can be activated frequently, some players may underestimate its potential. However, it should not be overlooked as it can greatly contribute to a team's damage output.

While Aloy's Elemental Skill and Normal attacks are crucial when played as a main DPS, her Elemental Burst makes her a strong sub-DPS with a focus on burst damage. This makes her a great addition to any team composition seeking a character to fill this role.

3 Not Knowing Aloy Can Buff The Team and Debuff The Enemy

Aloy's ascension passive, Combat Override, provides not only a boost to her own ATK, but also an 8% ATK increase for all nearby party members for 10 seconds after using her Elemental Skill and gaining at least one coil effect. This allows her to provide a substantial buff to her team members for an extended period.

Additionally, when Aloy's Elemental Skill hits an opponent, it also reduces their ATK, which can be advantageous when facing tough enemies. While this may not be significant for many players who focus on offensive playstyles rather than defensive ones, it can come in handy, especially for players who are interested in creating fun challenges for themselves.

2 Not Understanding How Her Coil Stacks Work

Aloy

Aloy's Elemental Skill is capable of generating up to four Coil stacks. However, to generate these stacks, she must hit enemies with the skill, either when it is first shot as a Freeze Bomb or when it explodes and separates into Chillwater Bomblets. Aloy can gain stacks every 0.1 seconds as long as the skill hits enemies.

It is therefore best for players to aim this shot at a group of enemies with various distances to ensure they get as many stacks as possible. Each stack increases Aloy's Normal Attack DMG. It is important to note that the Coil effects will be cleared 30 seconds after Aloy leaves combat. This means that their affect will be lasting during her Rushing Ice State after she accumulates four stacks.

1 Not Understanding Her Rushing Ice State

After accumulating 4 Coil stacks, Aloy will enter her Rushing Ice State that lasts for 10 seconds. During this state, Aloy's normal attacks will be converted into Cryo attacks, but she will no longer be able to collect more stacks. Additionally, her normal attack damage will receive a further boost, and her Cryo damage will increase up to 35%, which increases every second during the duration if players have leveled her enough to activate her Ascension Passive, Strong Strike. As Aloy's Rushing Ice State allows her to deal significant Cryo damage, players should take advantage of this state by enabling a reverse melt reaction if possible.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
