Genshin Impact has officially revealed the release date for the upcoming Version 3.1 Special Program. The game runs on a very tight update schedule with each version of the game lasting approximately six weeks.

The first three Sumeru updates will be one week shorter than usual which means that new Genshin Impact events will arrive even more frequently. Developer HoYoverse usually holds a live stream event two weeks before the update arrives revealing most of the upcoming content.

The game's official social media accounts have finally confirmed that the upcoming live stream event for Genshin Impact version 3.1 will arrive on September 16, 2022, at 08:00 AM (UTC -4). The new update will reveal more information about the upcoming characters, as well as the new region. The ongoing 3.1 beta leaks have already confirmed that the new update will introduce a new part of Sumeru which will include a huge desert area that will feature a number of mysterious temples that will be explorable as part of one of the Archon quest. According to recent rumors, the desert part of Sumeru will be larger than the rainforest that was added in the ongoing Genshin Impact update 3.0.

The 3.1 Special Program will also go deeper into the three new Genshin Impact characters that were announced even before update 3.0 officially arrived to the live servers. Those characters include the Electro user Cyno, the Hydro character Candace and the famous Zubayr Theater dancer, Nilou. These characters will be spread over two banners, and according to credible leakers, Candace and Cyno will arrive in on the first banner cycle while Nilou is scheduled for the second part of the update.

Cyno will be a new five-star Electro polearm character who specializes in the DPS role. Beta leaks have revealed that his playstyle is very reminiscent of two popular DPS characters, Xiao and Razor. His damage will apparently revolve around Elemental Mastery which is common for Sumeru characters but unusual for main damage dealers. Nilou is also a new five-star character whose damage relies on triggering a new Elemental Reaction named Bloom.

One of her talents turns the Dendro Cores that are usually dropped by Bloom into Bountiful Cores which have a much stronger effect. Cyno and Nilou won't be the only five-star characters featured on the Limited Character Banners as recent leaks confirmed two new Genshin Impact re-runs. Cyno will apparently be joined by Venti on the first part of the update while Eula will arrive alongside Nilou on the second banner cycle.

Genshin Impact is now available on mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
