Back to All Characters

Venti is easily one of the most sought-after 5-star characters in all of Genshin Impact. Whether it be for his playful personality, powerful talents, or his adorable demeanor, Venti is one of the most popular characters in the franchise. Fans loved the drunken bard so much, Venti's gacha banner was even brought back for a rerun, allowing fans a second chance to pull for him to add to their parties.

Plenty of satisfied fans were lucky enough to pull the wind-borne bard. Yet, it's safe to say there are still a few beginners out there, still in the process of unleashing Venti's true potential on the battlefield. Here are a few mistakes to avoid when playing as Venti.

8 Not Using Him To Glide

Genshin Impact Venti Gliding

Stamina is an important resource, and the player should have their eyes on that meter at all times, just to be safe. Certain characters in the game are best used for certain stamina-related tasks due to their buffs or bonuses. For example, players should use Kaeya for exploration, as he takes up less stamina when sprinting in comparison to other characters.

In the case of the wind-borne bard, it's only natural that Venti has the advantage when it comes to gliding. When gliding, Venti experiences 20% less stamina consumption (similar to Amber). Make sure to use the bard when gliding over long distances to ensure a safe landing.

7 Holding The Button For His Talent, Instead Of Tapping It

Genshin Impact Venti Ability Skyward Sonnet Elemental Skill

One of Venti's many valuable talents is the Skyward Sonnet talent. This creates a current from underneath the enemy, launching them into the air and dealing AoE damage. This particular talent has two different forms. For one, the button for the talent is pressed/tapped briefly; for the other, the button is held down, creating a much larger AoE. This second form launches Venti into the air as well, for an easy plunge attack or to evade any other enemies.

Players should primarily use this ability for its first form. While Skyward Sonnet is a very useful talent, when held, its cooldown is significantly lengthened, making it not as versatile or reliable. Try using the "long press" version of Venti's talent for exploration purposes and to reach high areas, rather than for battle.

6 Using Him As A Primary DPS

Genshin Impact Team Build Venti Diluc Jean Fischl

Venti, although an incredibly valuable and powerful part of a team, actually works best as a support character. His greatest strengths don't really lie within his normal attack, making him vulnerable during his cooldowns.

Try pairing Venti with another character as a main DPS and using them in tandem, rather than keeping Venti out the majority of a battle. As soon as Venti has used his main talents, switch off to someone that can deal some decent damage to buy time for Venti's meters to fill. Once Venti's good to go, simply bring him back to use those talents again.

5 Not Using His Elemental Burst In Crowds Of Enemies

Oftentimes, newer players will avoid using their elemental bursts during regular exploration battles. Instead, they reserve them for boss battles. However, Venti's elemental burst is one to try and use as much as possible. Large, scattered crowds of enemies can often lead to getting surprised by arrow damage coming from off-screen. The bard's burst helps avoid this.

Venti's elemental burst, Wind's Grand Ode, is a perfect solution when the player finds themselves in the middle of a massive Hilichurl camp, surrounded from every corner. Quickly use the bard's elemental burst to suck up all the enemies nearby into one group, and never have to deal with off-screen ambushes again.

4 Not Giving Him Energy Recharge Artifacts

Venti's strengths mainly stem from his elemental talents rather than his normal attack, so it's important to give him a build that encourages and supports this. The energy recharge stat is especially important. The higher the elemental recharge, the faster the character can fill the meter to use their elemental burst in battle.

Venti is at his most vulnerable during cooldowns. It's a good idea to give him a good artifact build that offers some energy recharge as a bonus. A couple choices are The Exile set or the Scholar set, which both give a +20% energy recharge for the equipping character.

3 Using His Elemental Burst On High-Level Enemies

Genshin Impact Venti Elemental Burst

Although Venti's elemental burst is incredibly powerful, it is only as powerful as the player's Venti is. A lower-leveled Venti will only be able to suck up lower-level enemies. At lower levels, it may not be worth using Venti's burst on larger/more powerful enemies, as it won't be able to do its full potential in damage.

If Venti is to be a main part of the player's team, it's best to prioritize leveling him to ascension a few times. After all, Venti can only pick up enemies within about 20 levels of his own level within his burst.

2 Leveling Up His Normal Attack

Genshin Impact Venti Talents

Venti's normal attack isn't incredibly versatile, nor is it very reliable. Often, Venti won't lock on to the correct object or enemy. The items that level up each character's talents can be cumbersome to obtain and for the most part, Venti's normal attack isn't worth investing much time into.

For the most part, players should put their resources into all Venti's other talents instead. Although it isn't detrimental to level up his normal attack, it's much safer to prioritize his other talents first.

1 Not Creating Combos With His Elemental Burst

Venti's elemental burst can combine with other attacks in many different ways, and it's incredibly important not to just use it on its own. Venti's elemental skill, Skyward Sonnet, can be used right before his burst, canceling the animation.

In addition to Venti's own attacks, it's always important to take advantage of swirl damage. Using a Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro character's elemental attack right before Venti's elemental burst can do huge damage. These elemental attacks can imbue Venti's anemo attack with that element, dealing tons of swirl damage. Make sure to always combo Venti's elemental burst to maximize its potential.
