Genshin Impact players are excitedly awaiting the newest update to the game: update 2.1. It's coming out soon, and miHoYo is going to let players pre-download some of the update before it comes out, just like it has since Genshin's update 1.3.

Pre-installation of Genshin Impact update 2.1 will be available for PC and mobile users only, just as before. Unfortunately, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users will not be able to download these assets early. The release date of update 2.1 is going to be September 1, 2021; today on its news blog, miHoYo finally posted the time and date that pre-installation downloads would be available to start.

Update 2.1 will be available for Genshin Impact's open world starting August 30th, 2021 at 11:00 (UTC+8), which is 7AM in Eastern Standard Time. Players will be able to access some of the assets for the 2.1 update through the menu of both the mobile and the PC versions, giving those who want to access the update as quickly as possible a way to make day 1 downloading a little faster. Mobile users will not be able to play while the pre-installation is happening, but PC users can download the pre-update in the background while playing. The amount of time that it will shorten the download will depend greatly on individual download speeds and connection strength, but anything that makes a download a little bit faster can help.

In order to download the pre-installation update for Genshin Impact, mobile players on iOS will have to enter the App Store and press the Update button. Android users can follow the directions in the app or update the game from the Google Play menu. PC players will have to go through the game to update it by heading to the Paimon Menu, then Settings, Other, and Pre-Install Resource Package. There will also be a "Pre-Install Resource Package" on the loading screen for PC players. PC players will also have to update the launcher by clicking the "Game Pre-Installation" next to the "Launch" button.

There has been no hint if miHoYo plans to allow pre-installation for PlayStation users. Hopefully this will be rolled out to the console versions of the game to allow everyone to speed up their day one downloads. Also, miHoYo has yet to release the time that the full 2.1 update will be available to players on the 1st of September, but that information should be on the way soon. In the mean time, players can go back and find all the hidden 2.0 quests located in Inazuma while they wait.

Genshin Impact is available for mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5.
