With the release of Genshin Impact's 2.0 update, players are finally able to explore Inazuma, an island nation led by Baal, the Electro Archon. While traveling across Inazuma in Genshin Impact, fans will encounter a brand new domain called the Formation Estate. However, players will not be able to enter this domain straightaway, as there are several things that they must do in order to unlock it.

Updated on February 15, 2022, by Scott Vengel: Lantern Rite has just come to its conclusion in Genshin Impact. The game now looks to return to the land of Inazuma for the next two updates, featuring the banners for Yae Miko and Kamisato Ayato. This means a heavy exploration of Inazuma's lore, especially in regards to Yae Miko, who is perhaps one of the most important Inazuman characters so far. Of course, in anticipation that a lot of lore-lovers in Genshin Impact will want to complete one-time domains in the region, this article will be updated to add more information on how to complete Formation Estate.

Naturally, for players looking to learn more about Watatsumi Island’s role in the story, as well as Inazuma’s lore overall, Formation Estate is a must-complete domain.

How To Unlock Formation Estate

The first step toward unlocking the Formation Estate in Genshin Impact is to complete the first three parts of the Orobashi's Legacy World Quest. The first part of this quest chain can be picked up from Kaji, an NPC located on the east side of Fort Fujitou, and it centers around collecting two missing parts and repairing a ward.

To do this, players must reorient the three pillars that surround the blue dome just northeast of Kaji, defeat a samurai, and pick up the Rock Pillar Pearl and Rock Pillar Warding Stone.

After repairing the ward, fans should return to Kaji to receive Orobashi's Legacy Part 2. This time around, Genshin Impact players will be locating a ward at the Serpent's Head, and they will again need to move some pillars in order to access an area that is surrounded by a dome.

Indeed, there are some more missing parts to track down inside of this second dome, and fans will be ready for the third part of the World Quest once those parts have been installed into the ward.

With respect to Orobashi's Legacy Part 3, it plays out very much like the previous two parts, with players deactivating a dome and repairing a ward. The primary difference here is that this particular ward is located in the Jakotsu Mine, though that does not have much impact on how the quest should ultimately be approached.

After this third ward has been repaired, the rain in the area of the Formation Estate will have dissipated, and players can now unlock this new Genshin Impact domain.

The precise way to unlock the Formation Estate is to light the four braziers that surround the cube, starting with the one closest to the cube and working clockwise. While players should be quite familiar with this process by the time that they reach these braziers, it may be worth emphasizing that they can be lit with a Pyro attack in Genshin Impact.

Once the four lanterns are burning, fans should simply interact with the cube in order to finally gain access to the Formation Estate.

Formation Estate hosts a variety of samurai units and treasure hunters. Notably, the domain features Hydro and Pyro Potioneers, as well as both Electro and Pyro Kairagi. As such, players are recommended to bring a Pyro, Cryo, Electro, or Anemo unit.

Genshin Impact players should also be warned that a Pyro or Electro character will be less effective against at least one of the Kairagi units found in the domain, so they should bring another element if they bring one of these.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, with a Switch version in development.
