Genshin Impact is a gacha-based Action RPG with a strong focus on characters that can be acquired by spending Primogems on in-game banners. The game features two types of banners: Limited and Standard.

Each new Genshin Impact update usually brings two banner cycles with one or two limited five-star characters which are obtainable for around three weeks. The Standard banner however is a permanent part of the game, and it features five characters: Diluc, Jean, Qiqi, Keqing, and Mona.

Genshin Impact's Standard banner includes a set of characters that can be dropped on the limited banner as well, meaning that there is no particular reason for players to spend their Primogems on this banner. Just like the Limited banner, the Standard banner has a 90-wish guarantee to drop a five-star character. However, there is also a 50% changes that this five-star drop features one character from the Standard banner. All of these mechanics make the Limited banner much more valuable which has started an interesting discussion on the official Genshin Impact subreddit.

A thread made by Reddit user PantherYT about this matter has caught a lot of attention in the Genshin Impact community. Their post has proposed an interesting idea of reducing the 90-wish guarantee to at least 40 or 50 wishes and increase the number of Acquaint Fates that are occasionally handed out for free. Another problem with this banner is that it takes a lot of wishes to acquire Constellations for a desired character since five different characters have the same chance to drop.

The change presented by PantherYT would surely increase the popularity of this banner. There are already a couple of rumors claiming that the Standard banner could soon bring a new way to acquire the five-star characters. With multiple characters arriving with each new major Genshin Impact update, there is a chance that a change to how the banner works could happen.

Developer Hoyoverse keeps making changes to the game's Limited banner with the double banner mechanic becoming a standard for almost every new update. While most double banners include two re-runs, the current Genshin Impact Version 2.6 has brought a banner that pairs the new character Kamisato Ayato with a re-run for the Anemo support Venti. The official livestream event has confirmed that the second part of the update will feature Ayaka as the only limited character. However, according to recent leaks, there is a chance that players might get a third Genshin Impact banner after her banner ends.

Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
