Liyue's Lantern Rite festival has returned to Genshin Impact, offering a wide range of activities to help players get into the party spirit. Although it celebrates the same festival as last year's Lantern Rite, the new event - Fleeting Colors in Flight - features an entirely new story and focus. Last year, Genshin Impact's players built lanterns to celebrate; they're building fireworks instead this year.

To start making fireworks in the Fleeting Colors in Flight event, players will first need to get their hands on a Launch Tube. This can be done by completing the Blazing Stars Ring in Fortune event quest, which requires players to have completed Interlude Chapter: Act 1 - The Crane Returns on the Wind. Once they've acquired a Launch Tube, players will be ready to start smelting fireworks to earn Primogems, Mora, and Affluence Talismans.

How to Use the Launch Tube in Genshin Impact

To start smelting, simply open the Gadget tab of the inventory and place the Launch Tube. It doesn't matter which of Genshin Impact's characters is active when using the Launch Tube, as no one gets any special bonuses. Once the Tube is down, select the Smelt Fireworks interaction option to start smelting.

Not all the fireworks that players can smelt will be unlocked at first, as some will only unlock once Genshin Impact's latest event's story has advanced. However, the first two will always be available, so players should begin by selecting The Mountain Clouds Let Down Golden Rain.

How to Smelt Fireworks in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact Launch Tube Firework Smelting

The goal of the smelting mini-game in Genshin Impact is to get all the firework's parameters into the ideal zone, marked by an orange section in the UI bar. This is done by selecting a parameter, choosing a Smelting Technique from the right-hand side, and then performing a Single Smelt. Players will need to do this multiple times to reach the ideal zone and can switch Techniques whenever they want. All Techniques cost a set amount of Endurance, and players will have to stop smelting when they run out.

On top of this, each Single Smelt will also consume some of the Launch Tube's Firepower Value, which will change the Firepower Bonus. A Strong or Medium Flame Bonus will add more power to the following Smelting Technique, raising the chosen stat a little further.

Finally, each Single Smelt has a chance to trigger a Curious Efficacy, which will immediately move the parameter's quality into the ideal zone. Once players are satisfied with their score, they can complete the Smelting to earn Primogems, Affluence Talismans, Mora, and more based on how well they did.

Genshin Impact is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5 with a Switch version in development.
