Building Shenhe in Genshin Impact is the first step to using her in the party. It appears that miHoYo intends to keep releasing element-specific supports in the game. Previously, there's Kujou Sara that's designed for Electro DPS, then Gorou in Genshin Impact is best used for defensive Geo units. As for Shenhe, of course, she will be a Cryo support.

Unlike the other two, Shenhe has far more unique mechanics. For instance, her buff actually scales with her total attack, instead of base attack or flat defense. Luckily, though, this makes her equipment very straightforward. Here's everything players need to know about Shenhe's best build.

Genshin Impact: Shenhe's Talent Overview

Since Shenhe is a support for Cryo units in Genshin Impact, there's no special ability on her Normal Attack. Therefore, Travelers can ignore this part of her kit.

Elemental Skill

Shenhe has two versions of Elemental Skill: Press and Hold. Using this move will grant Icy Quill to all party members. When a character deals Cryo damage, their damage will be increased based on Shenhe's attack. The Press version can be triggered five times, while the Hold version will last for seven.

This effect can trigger multiple times if the ally deals AoE damage, but it will only trigger according to the amount of available Icy Quill (So if players hit three enemies twice, it will consume six Quills.) The effect won't trigger if there's not enough stack.

Icy Quill's count differs for every party member, so in total, the Press Skill will grant 20 Quills (five for each character). However, for Shenhe, she will always consume one Quill when she casts her Elemental Skill.

After unlocking her second passive, Shenhe's Press Skill will buff Elemental Skill and Burst damage by 15% for 10s. Meanwhile, the Hold version will boost Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack by 15% for 15s. This effect will be applied to any type of damage, not only Cryo ones.

Shenhe's Elemental Skill is the core feature of her moveset. Therefore, this ability should be the priority when leveling up her talents.

Elemental Burst

Unlike typical support, Shenhe's Elemental Burst is mostly neglectable. Because of her Skill, it's a good idea for players to opt for triple attack artifacts. While this boosts her Skill significantly, it causes Shenhe's Burst to be really weak. Not only that, but the ability itself has a tiny multiplier. Luckily, this move provides more than damage. It grants the following bonuses:

Reduces enemy's Cryo and Physical Resistance (within the AOE) by 6% to 15%, according to Shenhe's talent level
Increase the Cryo damage of characters in the AOE by 15%

Best Artifacts For Shenhe In Genshin Impact

For Shenhe, the artifacts she needs are pretty straightforward.

Timepiece: Attack or Energy Recharge
Goblet: Attack
Circlet: Attack

As players would want to stack as much attack as possible, her artifact set should also boost this stat. Therefore, 2-Shimenawa's Reminiscence + 2-Gladiator's Finale would be the best option for her. But if Shenhe is unable to keep using her Elemental Burst, then people can also opt for Energy Recharge Timepiece. Damage builds are not worth it for Shenhe.
