As Genshin Impact quickly approaches its first anniversary, MiHoYo has been hard at work adding new content and characters to their flagship title. The recent 2.1 update saw the release of the highly anticipated Raiden Shogun, coupled with the continuation of the Inazuma story and new gameplay mechanics. Now, with the 2.1 update preparing to enter its second half, MiHoYo is putting the spotlight on the next character to join Genshin Impact's roster, one featured heavily throughout the Inazuma story.

Players were first introduced to Sangonomiya Kokomi, the leader of the Sangonomiya Resistance, during the conclusion of the story quests added in Genshin Impact's 2.0 Update. Kokomi is the leading tactician behind the resistance waging war against the reign of Inazuma's "eternal shogun" and she was previously revealed to join Genshin Impact following the conclusion of the Raiden Shogun's banner. Now, with Baal's banner entering into its final days, MiHoYo has unveiled further details on Kokomi's gameplay with a brand new trailer showing off the Divine Priestess.

Genshin Impact's newest gameplay trailer is stylish and flashy as it gives players their first look at Kokomi's gameplay. Kokomi's attacks and abilities share her aquatic theming with her normal attacks taking the form of Hydro-charged fish and her Elemental Skill as a jellyfish. While the flashy trailer does not show the actual functionality of Kokomi's Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst, MiHoYo previously revealed Kokomi's kit following her teaser. She will function as a healer with an Elemental Burst that empowers her attacks and provides several buffs to herself and her allies.

With Kokomi's home, Watatsumi Island, added during Genshin Impact's 2.1 update, the trailer for the island's priestess has similar visual and stylistic theming. The trailer frequently features animated sequences starring Kokomi beneath the ocean's surface with a wide variety of aquatic creatures surrounding her. Her gameplay sequences show off the unique appearance of Watatsumi Island with its striking pink and blue foliage, said to be unique to the island.

Kokomi's trailer is just the most recent in a long line of breathtaking, story-fueled character trailers throughout the lifespan of Genshin Impact. In the days leading up to the release of new characters, MiHoYo releases a trio of new trailers showing off each character's unique story, gameplay, and theming. These trailers typically see significant traffic upon their release with the newest trailer already receiving over 1.4 million views in less than 24 hours. With Genshin Impact moving into the second half and plenty of popular characters like Thoma and Yae Miko still awaiting their release, MiHoYo is set to see Genshin Impact's popularity continue well into the future.

Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
