This 5-star Cryo character in Genshin Impact may look like a child; however, Qiqi is actually very old. Yet, she does not age physically because she is a zombie. The fact that she's undying causes Hu Tao to attempt to bury this character several times.

Once upon a time, Qiqi was a typical lass who often went to the mountain to pick herbs. One fateful day, she entered a place where mortals shouldn't go and became trapped in the battle between Adepti and Demons. That day, Qiqi both died and lived at the same time. The girl was resurrected and became a zombie as we know her now. In gameplay, Qiqi is a full-time healer, and a strong character to use. However, there are some mistakes players commonly make.

Updated on February 2, 2022, by Nahda Nabiilah: In Genshin Impact 2.3, a new artifact domain becomes available. This time, the reward allows Travelers to fully focus on creating a damage build for their healers and defensive Geo units. This healer artifact, Ocean-Hued Clam is an amazing option for dedicated healers like Qiqi. The little zombie can now be an excellent healer and damage dealer at the same time. Following this feature, there are now a few more mistakes players can make when using Qiqi in Genshin Impact. Read further to find out.

13 Not Using Ocean-Hued Clam

Kokomi with Ocean-Hued Clam

Ocean-Hued Clam is catered for dedicated healers that can heal a total of 20,000-30,000 HP every 3s (including overheal above 100% health). This means units like Diona can't fully benefit from the artifact as they only heal one character at a time. Meanwhile, Qiqi can heal her whole party if she attacks the enemy while her Elemental Skill is active. While off-field, her Fortune-Preserving Talisman will abundantly heal the active unit as long as they're actively attacking.

Therefore, whether she's taking field time or not, Ocean-Hued Clam Qiqi can be a relevant increase in the team's overall DPS. This is why players shouldn't sleep on it.

12 Underestimating Qiqi For Superconduct

superconduct

While Qiqi is a terrible choice for a Melt team, she's still viable to enable Superconduct. This Elemental reaction reduces the enemy's Physical resistance by 40% for 12s, so even with a slow Elemental Skill like Qiqi's, triggering one Superconduct every 12s is trivial.

Furthermore, this reaction will further enhance Ocean-Hued Clam's damage. The healer artifact creates a bubble that explodes after 3s, dealing Physical damage (scales with the healing done in the duration). This effect is not affected by Physical Damage Bonus or DEF reduction, but it's affected by Resistance reduction.

11 Not Using Qiqi For Cryo Resonance

Genshin Impact Lisa-Qiqi-Kaeya-1

Cryo Resonance is highly beneficial for Cryo characters. By having two of these units in the party, any damage dealt to an opponent affected by Cryo (or Frozen) will have a 15% higher Critical Rate. This is why Genshin Impact units like Ganyu and Ayaka gain Critical Damage stat from their ascension. This resonance, combined with the Blizzard Strayer artifacts, allows them to deal massive Critical Damage without worrying about Critical Rate.

Qiqi is generally not favored to trigger this effect, where she's shadowed by other supports like Diona. However, there are some compositions where Qiqi can be viable. For example, with Eula and Raiden Shogun, Qiqi can benefit from both the former's Physical resistance reduction and the latter's Energy restoration.

10 Using Her On HP

Qiqi character demo

Most healers in Genshin Impact require HP to improve their healing. Some players might think that increasing character max HP is always a go-to. However, that's not the case when building Qiqi. Her healing scales with her attack, so the more attack she has, the better she can heal.

To maximize her attack, Travelers can give her two sets of Gladiator's Finale, and ATK% as main stats for artifacts on Timepiece and Cup. Furthermore, players can increase Qiqi's attack by giving her a weapon that has an ATK% sub stat.

9 Not Building Her As A Sub DPS

Qiqi attacking enemies

Qiqi's healing is beyond impressive, as she can often overheal her team in the endgame. The secret to her healing is the "Fortune-Preserving Talisman'' she puts on enemies. Any character that deals damage to an enemy affected by this debuff will receive huge amounts of healing.

Considering this, players shouldn't build her artifacts with four sets of Maiden Beloved. Instead, people can opt for more damage on Qiqi. For the sub-DPS build, either use Ocean-Hued Clam with Attack/Attack/Healing Bonus or 4-Gladiator's Finale with Attack/Physical Damage/Critical Rate or Damage.

8 Using Qiqi As An Enabler For Melt Reaction

Qiqi using her skill

Cryo is important for all three Elements it can react with. It's necessary to create the Melt, Superconduct, and Freeze. Being a support and a Cryo user, some players might think Qiqi is good to use as a reaction support.

Unfortunately, that is far from the truth as Qiqi has a terrible Cryo application. Her skill has a very long cooldown time, and it requires her to stick to the enemy to apply Cryo every few seconds. Her burst is a Cryo AOE attack, but it takes far too long to recharge its energy.

7 Counting On Her Burst To Heal

Qiqi using her burst

As a dedicated healer, it's not uncommon for players to think that Qiqi's burst is her main source of healing. However, Qiqi can't recharge her burst fast enough. It has a high energy requirement, and she needs other characters to recharge it for her.

RELATED: Genshin Impact: Mistakes Players Make When Using Albedo

Instead, the little zombie's main source of healing comes from her skill and the "Fortune-Preserving Talisman" mark she puts on the enemies. Just like Noelle and the Deaconess Barbara, Qiqi can heal the party if she does normal attacks while her skill is active. Furthermore, Qiqi also has a chance to apply the healing mark when she attacks enemies. If Travelers are using Ocean-Hued Clam, Qiqi's "Fortune-Preserving Talisman" will be the main source of her damage. So players should try their best to keep the mark available on the opponents.

6 Disregarding Sacrificial Sword

Playing Qiqi as a healer has one major problem, and that is her skill's huge cooldown. Of course, this is not an uncommon issue among the healers, but it certainly can drive people off a character.

That's why, if players chose to play her as a dedicated healer, the best weapon of choice for her is the Sacrificial Sword. This Genshin Impact weapon has the ability to reset her skill's cooldown, and the Energy Recharge sub stat is also handy for her to burst more often.

5 Disregarding Her Passive In Liyue

If Travelers want to collect Liyue local specialties for certain characters, Qiqi has the perfect passive. Her presence in the players' party will make a "hand" icon appear on the map if there's a local specialty nearby.

On the other hand, players should not use her to move around the map. Qiqi's small legs and hands cause her to move and climb slowly, increasing the time needed to collect the items instead of decreasing them. It's enough for her to just be in the party. As an alternative, the 4-star Pyro user, Yanfei, also has a similar passive.

4 Not Using Her To Tank

Qiqi against a Ruin Hunter

As a healer, players often keep Qiqi will often be off-field until they need to heal their DPS. This is understandable, but when things go wrong, Qiqi can be the perfect candidate to consume heavy attacks. For example, hits from hard-hitting enemies like the Geovishaps and Ruin Guards in the Spiral Abyss.

Qiqi makes a good tank because she can easily heal herself back. Furthermore, she will heal her allies along with her. Qiqi currently has the second-highest base defense in the game, so players can rely on this little zombie to protect the party.

3 Not Using Her Normal & Charged Attacks

Qiqi using her charged attack

Qiqi's mark "Fortune-Preserving Talisman '' is one of her best methods of healing. Her burst applies this mark on all enemies around her. Most importantly, when players ascend Qiqi for the fourth time, she will unlock the second passive. This gives a 50% chance to apply the special mark when using her normal and charged attacks.

RELATED: Genshin Impact: Mistakes Players Make When Using Bennett

It's an amazing addition to her kit that places her on par with Jean (in terms of healing). Qiqi's normal attacks are also very fast-hitting, so she has more chances to apply the special mark and greatly heal the party.

2 Using Her Skill To Deal Damage

Qiqi's skill hitting an enemy

Qiqi's skill is somewhat similar to Barbara's. When it's active, Qiqi's normal and charged attacks heal the whole team. However, just like the idol of Mondstadt, Qiqi's skill also does minuscule damage.

That's why players should not use Qiqi's skills to deal damage, especially considering that it's also a poor choice for Cryo application. The little zombie's skill is exclusively used for healing. This also means that Travelers should not build Qiqi on Cryo damage, as it will do close to nothing for the team.

1 Building Her On Cryo For DPS

Qiqi using Cryo artifacts

Building Qiqi on Blizzard or Noblesse is not practical, since it doesn't add much to her healing ability nor her damage. Although Qiqi's burst deals decent damage, the ability itself is not a reliable source of attack. However, that does not mean she can't be built as a DPS.

To create an undying DPS zombie, players should build Qiqi on Physical damage. The unit's normal attacks are her best source of damage, so it's best to build her on 4-Gladiator's Finale, 4-Pale Flame, or a combination with Bloodstained Chivalry. The main stat should be Attack/ Physical damage/Crit Rate or Crit Damage. As for the weapons, Qiqi should wield Aquila Favonia or Prototype Rancour.

Genshin Impact is available on PS5, PS4, PC, and Mobile. A Nintendo Switch version is also in development.
